- LAYERS opens the Layer Manager as a dockable pallet instead of a modal
dialog with a darkened backdrop. It floats over the middle of the
drawing the first time and keeps its place after that; LAYERS again
(or its close button) hides it. The table keeps its natural width and
scrolls sideways when the pallet is narrower, and the Name column
divider now drags through the dock's pointer capture. Ctrl+A selects
all layers while a layer row is selected in the open pallet.
- The Layer Manager is listed in the tab-row pallet menu like the others.
- Double-clicking a docked title bar floats the panel beside its edge;
double-clicking a floating title bar docks the panel on the side its
title bar faces.

- Dropping on a docked pallet now stacks it above or below over the top
and bottom 35 % of the slot; only the middle 30 % makes it a tab.
- Tabs show the pallet icon (title as tooltip), aligned to the left.
Every docked slot has the tab row, so its menu is always reachable.
- A menu button at the right of the tab row lists every pallet with a
check mark for those shown in this slot. Checking one opens it as a
tab here (moving it from wherever it was docked); unchecking hides it
and keeps its tab for next time.

- Dragging a tab along its slot's tab strip moves it to the gap under the
pointer; the drop preview shows the new tab order. A panel dragged from
elsewhere onto a tab strip lands at that position too. A drop in the
middle of the slot still appends a newcomer and leaves a member where
it is.
- All tabs of a slot share one width: a joining panel takes the slot's
width, resizing or resetting one tab sizes them all, and slots sized
apart by older configs render at their widest tab. Switching tabs no
longer changes the column width.
- Hovering an auto-hide rail raises its slot without turning the rail
blue.

- Docked title bars show the pin and close only while the pointer is
over the bar; the bar keeps a fixed height so nothing jumps.
- Auto-hide on is drawn as a 30° tilted pin (new pin_active.svg)
instead of a coloured button background, on docked and floating bars.
- A floating panel's resize grip sits in the bottom corner away from its
title bar. With the bar on the right it is bottom-left (new mirrored
resize_left.svg) and resizing from there keeps the right edge fixed.
The bar stays on its side while resizing.
- While a floating panel is dragged, only the drop preview shows it; the
panel no longer stays drawn at its old place.

Every docked panel now shows its title bar flush along the top, like the
Properties panel: dock::frame takes the title bar separately and pads
only the content below it.
A floating panel drops its horizontal title bar for a vertical one on
the side facing the nearer workspace edge. Close and the auto-hide pin
sit at the top; the panel's icon sits at the bottom with the title
reading upward above it. The free part of the bar drags the panel. With
auto-hide on, a floating panel shrinks to its title bar until hovered.
Panel views take a dock::Chrome (auto-collapse plus floating) in place
of the bare auto-collapse flag, so the shared title bar knows when to
step aside.

Panels can now float over the workspace, share a docked slot as tabs,
and split an edge at heights the user picks.
- Dropping a panel away from the edges floats it at the pointer. Floating
panels move by their title bar, resize from a corner grip, and come to
the front when clicked.
- Dropping in the top or bottom quarter of a docked slot docks the panel
above or below it, as before. Dropping in the middle adds the panel as
a tab of that slot. Pressing a tab shows that panel; dragging a tab
pulls the panel out again.
- While dragging, a blue ghost previews the result: the new slot, the
slot with its future tab row, or the floating window.
- A splitter between stacked slots sets their heights; double-click it
to make the slots equal again. Heights persist.
- A press only becomes a drag after 5 px of movement, so clicking a title
bar or tab never moves the panel.
The persisted layout now stores each edge as tab groups with a height
weight, plus a list of floating panels. Configs with the old
bare-panel-id stacks still load as single-panel slots.

Display gets a command line text colour (blank keeps the theme's); it
covers history, prompts and the input, while errors stay red. Files
lists the fonts folder that text resolution searches, so .shx files can
be added by hand; opening it creates it first.

Before a grip is picked, the crosshair now jumps to the grip under it, so
the click lands where the marker shows.
Discussion #1557

DimensionPreview drew identical generic triangles regardless of dimblk/dimblk1/dimblk2. It now resolves each end through the shared arrow_from_block_name mapping (widened to pub(crate)) and draws per-end glyphs, keeping DIMTSZ tick precedence. Tests: arrow_name_mapping_covers_preview_kinds pins the shared contract; 2 preview_arrow_tests pin per-end resolution (RED first). Full suite: 1989 passed / 0 failed / 25 ignored.
SelectionState now holds view, gesture, input, menu and orbit sub-structs; all 450 access sites updated mechanically with no behavior change. Deletes three write-only dead fields (box_last, box_last_crossing, poly_last_crossing). Hand-rolled clears in commands and dim_viewport route through the new clear methods; bench fixture updated. Full suite: 1976 passed / 0 failed / 25 ignored.
- Text styles keep their TrueType typeface through save and reopen (codec
reads and writes the STYLE record's ACAD extended data) (#1633)
- Unnamed shape-file entries no longer show in text style lists (#1634)
- Save As offers DWT 2018; NEW asks for the template to start from, while
Ctrl+N and the quick-access New run QNEW with the default template (#1635)
- An edge next to an earlier fillet of the same radius rounds together with
it (kernel); the solid stays drawn and pickable while edges are chosen
(#1625, #1107)
- A full cache rebuild drops the B-rep cache too, so an undone fillet does
not come back with the next edge operation (#1107)
- Selected solids in shaded styles highlight only their visible edges (#1031)
- VIEW ISO / SWISO / SEISO / NEISO / NWISO snap to the isometric corners

- Dynamic-input fields take ' and " and read 2'9" / 3' as lengths (#937)
- STRETCH on a selection made by a crossing window stretches through that
window and goes straight to the base point (#1068)
- STRETCH's crossing-window steps show no coordinate boxes (#657)
- Collapsed ribbon panel titles wrap at words, never mid-word (#920)

Fixes:
- Font prompt no longer lists bundled ltypeshp/qcadshp shape files (#1626)
- Wide polylines step at a discontinuous segment width; PEDIT marks the
current vertex; keyword steps refresh the command preview (#1628)
- Radius-0 fillet drops the zero-length segment it left, so the corner
fillets again (#1422)
- FILLET Trim / No trim option (#1558)
- True-colour wires plot in their own colour; colour picker stores the
value it shows (#1621)
- Model tab keeps its page setup; "Save changes to layout" in Model (#1620)
- QNEW default template in Options > Files; .dwt in the open dialog
(#1134, #1113)
- GRIDUNIT / GRIDMODE / PERSPECTIVE variables (#1618, #1524)
- PTYPE (#1433)
- ZOOM nX / nXP (#1465)
- CHSPACE between model and paper space through a viewport (#1428)
- Moving a dimension keeps its automatic text placement
- Shell icon; "&&" button labels (#1554)
- LINETYPE Load from a .lin file (#1588)
- XLINE / RAY hide the crosshair arms (#1437)
- Dynamic-input boxes keep clear of the crosshair and each other (#1546)
- Snap marker colour setting, dark default on light canvases
(#1497, #1229, #1128)
- Dimension style precision as a 0.00 pattern dropdown (#1426)
- Node graph nodes left of the origin no longer clip away (#1592)
- Collapse button in the command history header (#1094)
- Freeze-in-current-viewport toggle in the ribbon layer list (#1466)
- Geometric Center object snap for closed polylines (#1369)

Count adds automation actions to the MCP tool surface and a Count row to
the idle context menu; update the pinned digest and the expected height.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <[email protected]>
- The glyph-text icons (refresh, swap, remove, submenu and step arrows)
are SVG icons from ui::icons (new REFRESH and SWAP) or plain labels.
- The custom RowMenu widget is removed: Sheet Views / Model Views rows use
iced_aw::ContextMenu like the Sheet List rows, with a submenu expanding
in place while hovered.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <[email protected]>
- Invalid Area "Undo" reverts the step that lost the boundary (redo after
an undo, undo otherwise), checks the boundary is back and otherwise puts
the step back and continues without the area; no auto-undo loop.
- COUNTCLOSE / area replacement remove the count polyline outside the
history instead of as an undo step of their own.
- UPDATEFIELD re-evaluates the field texts of a table's *T block and
reports the number actually updated.
- Zoom to a counted object goes through the f64 handle_zoom_to_window.
- Palette: SVG icons instead of glyph text, list cache keyed by tab id,
cached result borrowed instead of cloned, "Count" as the source text.
- Command-line messages go through t!/tf! with entries in all locales.
- Cleanups: \n escapes, area comment, unused parameter, comment order.

The wizard's folder scan, Import Layout as Sheet, the template layout
lists and the drawing cache behind Model Views, Place on Sheet, callout /
label blocks and block previews parsed whole DWGs on the UI thread. They
now go through the shared `background_task` worker: a cache miss reads the
drawing and handles the message that needed it again. Block previews lend
the cached drawing to the preview scene instead of cloning it.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <[email protected]>
- `.dst` read/write go through native-only helpers (a browser answers
"Not available"); the folder pickers are web no-ops; time stamps use
iced::time (web-safe).
- Lock files are written only for drawings that are sheets of an open set,
released when the last set closes, and a lock a crashed session left
(recorded with its process id, same user and machine) is taken back.
The `.dwl2` header is well-formed and the date line comes from the OS
long date on every platform. The 1 Hz poll runs only while a set is open.
- Refreshing sheet set fields never stores `####`: fields no open set
resolves keep their value, and only the hosts that changed are redrawn
(and their tab marked modified).

Closes the view-to-dispatch resort race: the nine Layer* variants plus ColorPickTarget::Layer now carry the layer name and resolve to the current panel row at dispatch time via layer_panel_index; unknown names no-op. View sites (layer panel, ribbon dropdown) and the CLI/plugin path send names, so the CLI position lookup and the ribbon enumerate are deleted. Panel-internal selection state stays index-based. Tests: layer_toggle_visible_targets_layer_by_name_after_resort pins name targeting across a re-sort; layer_toggle_visible_unknown_name_is_noop pins the graceful no-op. Full suite: 1974 passed / 0 failed / 25 ignored.
Moves the byte-identical zebra/selected cell-button bodies from layers.rs and xref_manager.rs plus the layers header-button body into one shared module. All six call sites now use the shared helpers; toolbar_btn helpers untouched (different semantics). No new tests per owner request (pure move, verified by build plus full suite before test removal).
The row menu is a small overlay widget: a click on a submenu entry opens
its fly-out instead of closing the menu, and the fly-out is placed beside
the menu where it actually landed (right when it fits, otherwise left), so
the menu never moves.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <[email protected]>
- Row menus open Set category / Place Callout Block as fly-out submenus
(hover or right press; leftwards when the palette is docked right).
- List of Blocks and Select Block show the Blocks palette's preview.
- VIEW SAVE keeps the window's width/height ratio.
- Placing view content in model space is refused with the reference message.
- Drawings read for views, placement and blocks are cached by modification time.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <[email protected]>
- When the count area's boundary is gone the approved Invalid Area dialog
asks: undo the change (also its X and Cancel) or count all of model space;
"always" keeps the choice in the settings. An edited boundary moves the area.
- A table's *T block is brought up to date whenever the table changes.

Model Views lists named model views and places them on the current sheet
(xref, viewport, paper-space named view, view label with navigation
fields, sheet view record); sheet view rows get Display, Rename & Renumber
View, Set category, Place Callout Block and Place View Label Block; the
View Category dialog's Add Blocks opens List of Blocks / Select Block; a
sheet whose relative path is gone shows missing; sheet set fields store
their values when a set changes; named views keep their centre relative to
the target. Codec pin moves to the revision with these field helpers.

Import Layouts as Sheets shows the reference's statuses (already part of
a sheet set / may belong to another sheet set / available) and Browse
replaces the list; the Field dialog SheetView tree lists sheet views with
their properties, scale formats and hyperlinks; drawings open in tabs get
.dwl/.dwl2 lock files that other instances read as open; the codec pin
moves to the revision with sheet views and the default output folder.

Remove Sheets confirmation, Open in drawing editor, Select Layout as Sheet
Template for subsets that prompt, Import Layouts as Sheets with status and
prefix, Rename & Renumber options with Previous/Next and real layout/file
renames, New Subset folder hierarchy and publish setting, subset properties
rows as the reference shows them, sheet status badges (SSMSHEETSTATUS /
SSMPOLLTIME), Sheet Views by category with the View Category dialog, Model
Views locations, Field dialog SheetSet/SheetView navigation, and .dwt/.dws
read as DWG.

- COUNTCOLOR / COUNTERRORCOLOR / COUNTSERVICE reject any other value with
the range message; COUNTTABLE ? lists in the reference order, padded,
22 lines a page with Press ENTER to continue:, then the totals.
- Target picks report N found / N found, M total; several objects (or one
that is not a block reference) count their copies, shown as Geometries
in the palette.
- Current area is the area in use (kept aside by Entire model space),
otherwise all of model space; an invalid Object boundary ends with the
reference message.
- Count colours reach solids and fills; the palette list and the count
are recomputed only when the drawing changes.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <[email protected]>
The tree menus follow the reference per row kind (New Sheet / Import on a
sheet work on its subset, Remove Subset only while empty, Rename Subset),
a new sheet is not opened, an open set reloads when its .dst changes on
disk, ViewportScale placeholders take the version of their format and
the codec pin moves to the revision with navigation fields.

A full-strength fill on a large tab header read louder than the selected
tab's outline. A faint wash of the same blue still points at the tab
without looking selected.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <[email protected]>
A command started from the command line, an alias, a shortcut or Repeat
now lights the same ribbon button a click on it would, so users learn
where the tools they type live. A button inside a dropdown lights the
dropdown, a slide-out tool lights its group title, a tool hidden in a
collapsed panel lights the panel's opener, and a button on another tab
lights that tab's header. Always on, in the existing active-button blue.
Buttons are matched by the command they dispatch, so ids that differ
from their command still resolve; the tab on show wins when a command
appears twice, and a clicked button keeps its highlight. Transparent
commands leave the running command lit. The #355 rule that a highlight
lasts only while something runs moves from the ribbon click handler into
dispatch_command, so typed commands are cleared the same way.

#1585's field_dialog action stored any index it was given, and the dialog
indexes its category, case, size, named-type, formula, precision and plot
scale lists with them, so an out-of-range value panicked while drawing.
They are checked against the list lengths now. The hyperlink browse
button drew a glyph (…) that is tofu without the font, and two of the
new local_header_dates calls were mis-indented.

The PR pinned the codec to its fork through [patch]; codec #75 is merged
upstream and main already points at it, so the patch section is dropped.
The two windows-sys features it adds (Globalization, Identity) stay.
