Review of the image wave (with empirical reproduction against the
vendored image 0.25) found the budget contract did not hold across
formats: the decoder's Limits reserve checks NATIVE bytes-per-pixel,
so a grayscale/RGB JPEG/PNG/BMP over the RGBA budget decoded anyway
and into_rgba8() then ballooned to up to 4x it — the tab death the
budgets exist to prevent. The probed dimensions already prove an
OverBudget image cannot fit, so it is now refused without decoding,
removing all dependence on per-decoder limit fidelity.
Conversely, image's TIFF codec stacks ~3x scratch buffers on top of
the reserve, so an in-budget TIFF (the flagship GIS scenario) was
refused with a self-contradictory note ('400 MB, over the 512 MB
limit'); the decoder allowance for TIFF is now 3x while tier math
stays on the real budget.
Also: the refusal message saturates instead of overflowing on crafted
headers, the image pick only matches the refusal note naming ITS file
(peek, not drain — other references' notes survive for their own
drains), and the Georgian Supplement range ends at U+2D2F (U+2D30.. is
Tifinagh, which ships no font).
Build tooling: the font files missing from dist was a trunk
finalize_dist failure (Windows file-lock during the dist wipe; staging
had them, the exit code was missed) — not a copy-dir skip; it did not
reproduce in two clean cycles. scripts/build-web.sh is now the
canonical wrapper (MSYS_NO_PATHCONV, trunk, font copy + byte
verification that hard-fails), wired into README, Trunk.toml, and the
Pages workflow.
Giant rasters (500 MB aerial/GIS TIFFs) decoded whole: multiple GB of
RGBA on a wasm heap is tab death, and even desktop silently failed
past the image crate's 512 MiB default allocation cap. Decoding now
probes the header for dimensions first and runs in tiers — full decode
under a per-target budget (512 MB wasm / 4 GB native, enforced through
the decoder's allocation limits so oversize fails fast instead of
ballooning), Lanczos3 downsample to a display cap (4096² wasm /
8192² native) when the decode fits but the buffer is oversized, and a
clear localized refusal naming the dimensions and the limit when it
cannot. The probed source dimensions stay the entity's sizing truth,
so a downsampled buffer never shrinks the on-paper footprint; PDF
export self-corrects (effective DPI derives from placement × stored
pixels). Refusals surface once per image through the pick, open, and
drop/re-resolve paths.
Decode coverage gains webp and gif (pure Rust in image 0.25 — no C,
no lockfile churn), with the attach picker and drop filters matching.
Remote http(s) raster references now fetch on web: CORS-classified
failures name CORS, HTTP errors name the status, bodies over 64 MB and
8 s deadlines are bounded, and fetched bytes join the session source
registry (so ARCHIVE can package them and re-resolution reads cache).
Georgian and Armenian Noto subsets ship (generation blocks included),
so those scripts render instead of skipping; scripts still without
subsets remain silently skipped, unchanged.
Full verification of the XREF/data/ARCHIVE/worker wave (three
reviewers, one forensic) found no blockers and no crossfire damage;
five majors and several minors are fixed here.
- ARCHIVE now packages XREFs: the bytes registry added by the same
commit is consulted (the in-code 'no xref store exists' comment was
false within the commit), and the drawing is packaged only after
the full save preparation — without it kernel solids shipped
without their ACIS data.
- PendingClose stores the stable tab id instead of a vector index:
the web save now completes asynchronously, and closing a lower tab
during the serialization window shifted indices — closing the WRONG
tab, or panicking on a stale one. All producers and consumers
resolve the id at use.
- The xref bytes registry is capped (6 entries, oldest evicted): every
open, drop, and pick registered full drawing bytes with no bound —
an OOM waiting to happen. Reopened recents register too, so any
entry path can serve as another drawing's xref.
- A re-picked data-link source with the same name but different bytes
no longer silently replaces the first (the browser hands back bare
names, so two same-named files collided and every reference read
the newer pick): the pick is refused and the user is told why.
- The unresolved-xref warning lists file names (what to drop on the
page), not internal block names; the ZIP writer refuses the ZIP64
sentinel values (0xFFFF counts, 0xFFFFFFFF sizes/offsets) instead
of emitting archives that send strict readers hunting for a ZIP64
EOCD that is absent; docs note the worker-side saves.
Known follow-ups documented, not fixed here: the serde-skipped
ExtendedEntity/CadDocument raw bytes still drop on worker crossings
(needs acadrust accessors — upstream), and WBLOCK/SAVEALL/ARCHIVE
still serialize inline (the worker route is a small follow-up).
The last four big web-vs-desktop gaps.
XREFs: XATTACH reads the picked drawing's bytes and registers them
name-keyed (the image/PDF-underlay pattern), pre-parses on the web
worker, and the commit merge produces the same xref block flow as
native. Opened drawings resolve xrefs from the registry (trailing-name
match) before cache build; unresolved references produce ONE warning
listing the names and the fix — drop the referenced files on the page
(drops and picker opens now register their bytes) and reopen or
XRELOAD. XRELOAD works off the registry on unsaved drawings too.
Data Link & Extraction: spreadsheet links read picked xlsx/csv bytes
(calamine from slices / CSV from string) through a session registry,
so preview, refresh, and table-insert work on web; extraction takes
external drawings via a multi-file picker parsed on the worker, and
outputs CSV/TXT/.dxex via download_bytes. The disabled 'Add folder'
button explains why.
ARCHIVE/ETRANSMIT: assembles the drawing plus registered images, PDF
underlays, and session plot tables into a deterministic ZIP (minimal
writer over flate2 — no new dependency) delivered as
{stem}_transmit.zip; skipped dependencies are reported by name.
Save/autosave off the UI thread: the parse worker gains a serialize
action (protocol v5) — the document is prepared once on the main
thread (clone, styles, dimension bake), then the DWG/DXF writer pass,
the dominant cost, runs on the worker; any worker failure falls back
to inline serialization with the identical shared implementation.
The save path also clears the dirty flag only when the tab didn't
change mid-write, and the runtime-fields sidecar now carries
graphic_data, fixing a pre-existing loss of raw DWG round-trip bytes
on web-opened documents.
A fresh web-vs-desktop audit found the remaining gaps; this closes the
top ten.
Raster images: IMAGE attach read the picked file via image::open on a
name-only path (dead on wasm), and raster references inside opened
drawings decoded the same way. Picked bytes are now registered in a
name-keyed store (the PDF-underlay pattern), decoding runs from memory,
and dropped .png/.jpg/.bmp/.tif files register by name so unresolved
references in opened drawings re-resolve and render (and export to PDF).
Command gaps fixed with the bytes-at-pick / download_bytes pattern:
- WBLOCK now downloads the extracted block instead of failing on fs.
- SAVEALL saves every dirty tab instead of printing a no-op message.
- SCRIPT picks and reads the .scr file through the browser picker.
- CENTERLTYPEFILE picks the .lin/.dnl file and populates from text.
- Custom .ctb tables picked on web now parse, register for the
session, appear in the plot dialog list, and apply (load_named
previously returned builtin-only on wasm).
- LAYTRANS 'Load standards file' parses the picked drawing on the
existing web worker.
- INSERT 'from file' in the block palette parses picked bytes and
feeds the shared import path.
Text fidelity: TTF-named styles rendered as thin stroke glyphs on web
because the font database was empty. Fetched Noto faces are now
registered into it with a family alias table (Arial, Times New Roman,
Cambria, ... -> Noto Sans/Serif), so those styles render filled, shape,
export to PDF as vector fills, and appear in the style picker.
ViewCube labels request semibold again on web.
docs/native-vs-web.md: the hatch and font rows were stale (both work on
web now), the GPU row claimed WebGPU is used where available (the
backend is pinned to OpenGL), and the parallelism row missed the parse
worker — all corrected.
Five reviewers (PDF, snap, commands, otrack/help, printing) covered the
eight issue-fix commits; every blocker and major is fixed here.
Printing (#1261 follow-up):
- printto params now quote the printer name and pad the empty driver/
port slots handlers substitute ("Microsoft Print to PDF" was split
into three arguments and the job silently lost).
- Level-2 enumeration also merges when the level-4 list omits the
configured default, not only when it is empty; a level-2 error no
longer discards the default-printer merge.
- The printer list loads in a background task instead of blocking the
UI thread (level-2 queries can wait out RPC timeouts).
- CTB registration: collisions keep the existing file but now say so,
and only container-parsed tables are registered (the permissive
zlib heuristic stays session-only so junk cannot persist).
Snapping (#1030/#1319 follow-up):
- Edge-wire key_vertices gain NaN separators: junctions between
unrelated mesh edges no longer fabricate phantom midpoints.
- The wire cap counts segments (not separator points) and decimates
instead of dropping, so dense meshes keep partial endpoint coverage
instead of losing snap entirely.
- f64 endpoint recovery is a one-shot per-wire map instead of an
O(points x geoms) rescan on every mouse move.
Commands (#1082 class): the same typed-value-on-web bug also hit
CYLINDER/BOX/WEDGE/CONE/PYRAMID heights, HELIX final height (wrong
value, not just dropped), and SWEEP reference/new lengths — all now
commit as text at exactly those steps, each pinned by a regression
test that fails without the override (plus the missing native-route
twin for EXTRUDE).
PDF (#702 follow-up): heavy CTB pens bypass the Form XObject (their
half-width exceeds the /BBox SDF margin and was flat-chopped), CTM
scale entries round to 4 significant digits (0.01 quantized small
text by ~1%), degenerate quads skip emission, the atlas snapshot is
taken once per export instead of per text entity, and the rounding
comments no longer conflate page points with glyph-plane units.
OTRACK (#1313 follow-up): the guide's polar quantization diverges
from the snapper's drafting-gated polar during window-corner drags —
documented; an orphaned grid-step doc block is reunited with its
function.
Printer enumeration used EnumPrinters level 4 only, which is served
from the local registry cache and misses Win11 per-user network
printers; an empty result now retries with level 2 (spooler RPC) and
merges the resolved default. The dialog's 'System default printer'
used to delegate to the shell print verb — the default PDF handler's
own printer choice, not the system default; it now resolves
GetDefaultPrinterW and dispatches printto naming that printer
explicitly. Every dispatch probes OpenPrinterW first, so a printer
that vanished between listing and printing produces a clear error
instead of ShellExecute's silent nothing, and all SE_ERR_* codes carry
readable reasons.
Legacy CTB: picking an unparseable table used to swallow the failure
(.ok()) — the user saw nothing at all. Load errors now reach the
command line, the picker accepts .stb alongside .ctb (the container
gains the STBVER1 header; .stb application errors state the actual
reason), and a table loaded from anywhere is copied into the user's
plot-styles folder so it persists in the dialog, matching AutoCAD.
Buffer parsing for both EnumPrinters layouts is unit-tested; the
missing-printer path was exercised against the real spooler (existence
probe only, no job).
The web build had no autosave: on_autosave was a no-op and the
subscription was native-only. Both gates are gone; every savetime tick
now serializes each dirty tab (same pre-serialize sync as the web save
path, no thumbnail, serialized serially off the critical paint path)
into a dedicated opencadstudio-autosave OPFS directory, keyed by
drawing name, without touching the dirty flag, downloads, or recents.
On boot the web app scans that directory and offers any snapshot
newer than the last saved copy in a localized Recover Drawing modal
(Restore opens it as "name (recovered).dwg" through the standard
open pipeline; Discard removes it; Escape discards). Saving or
closing a drawing clears its snapshot; the boot scan also garbage-
collects stale entries. run_web now requests navigator.storage.persist
so settings and OPFS data survive browser eviction.
STLOUT/STEPOUT wrote via std::fs and IMPORTOBJ read via std::fs, all
of which fail on wasm32. The export pickers now mirror the PDF path
(pick_*_owned returns a name-only PathBuf; the browser download names
the file) and the write tail swaps fs::write for sys::download_bytes.
OBJ import reads the picked file's bytes directly, like the web open
picker.
Opening by drag-and-drop was dead on the web build: winit never emits
FileDropped there. A wasm-gated io::web_drop module installs DOM
dragover/drop listeners, filters .dwg/.dxf, reads the File bytes
async, and queues them; the existing 50 ms PollWebControl tick drains
the queue into the same open path the picker uses (progress overlay,
recovery, OPFS recent cache).
Also floors the model-space plot sheet: extents smaller than 10 mm
(or the 0x0 paper a fresh unsaved drawing carries) now fall back to
the standard sheet instead of producing a ~3 pt page.
Resolve curve intersections through cadkernel, retain empty exact results, gather analytic candidates independently of tessellation, and bound material uploads. Preserve large MINSERT data while limiting rendering work; remove obsolete review narratives.
Automation's "open" op called io::load_bytes directly and installed
the result as-is, skipping everything the canonical path-based loader
(load_file_for_open / finalize_loaded_outcome) runs after parsing:
block-origin normalization for legacy non-zero-origin blocks,
relative raster/material path resolution, source_path assignment,
and the corrupt-entity purge the UI open path always applies. The
same file opened two ways behaved differently, and headless/automation
use was more exposed to malformed geometry with no filter at all.
Added io::load_bytes_finalized(path, bytes), which runs load_bytes
plus that same normalization and purge using the real path (not just
its basename, which the old code passed to load_bytes as the "name"
parameter — losing the directory needed for raster-path resolution
and source_path). automation.rs's "open" handler now uses it and
reports the purge count as a "purged" field in the response.
load_bytes itself is unchanged, since the byte round-trip tests
(sketch_persist.rs, named_parameters_persist.rs) deliberately want
the simpler byte-only path with no real filesystem path behind it.
New test constructs a document with one normal and one corrupt
(zero-radius) entity, saves it, opens it through automation, and
checks the corrupt entity was purged and source_path was set —
proving the automation path now matches the UI path.

Two independent MINSERT (array INSERT) bugs found while auditing
render_graph.rs:
1. array_offsets() reserved and filled one Vec element per array
instance, with row_count/column_count parsed as unchecked u16s.
A corrupt or adversarial 65535x65535 pair requests 4,294,836,225
instances (~96 GiB) before any GPU-side chunking limit can help,
and before the render graph even reaches the GPU. Fixed with a
documented instance budget (20,000) enforced at both the load-time
corrupt-entity filter (is_entity_corrupt, matching the existing
polyline/spline vertex-count guards) and a failsafe clamp in
array_offsets itself, for an insert built or edited some other way.
2. insert_instance_transform composed the per-instance row/column
offset translation *before* the INSERT's own transform, so the
block's x/y scale multiplied the spacing along with the block
contents — an INSERT with x-scale 2 and column spacing 10 rendered
20 units between columns instead of 10. The pinned CAD model's own
Insert::array_points() confirms the correct behavior: spacing
rotates with the insert but is never scaled. Fixed by orienting the
offset with rotation + OCS only, then translating the already-
composed (scaled) instance transform by that world-space vector.
7 new tests cover both: pathological/reasonable instance counts at
the load-time filter and the render-graph failsafe, and instance
transforms for scaled and rotated arrays.

The 52 s silent stretch in a large-DWG open could not be attributed:
OpenTimings covered parse / purge / xref / caches, but the FINALIZING
phase -- prepare_open_geometry, which does the first full Model
tessellation and builds the interaction index -- was unmeasured and
reports only two progress ticks, so it was indistinguishable from parse
time.
Add finalize_ms to OpenTimings and a per-stage PERF breakdown:
open-phases parse / purge / xref / caches / finalize
open-finalize tessellation vs interaction index
open-index index build vs prepare_screen
wires-build sort cache, visible filter, block cache, classify,
memo hits, parallel tessellate, materialize, sort
resident-post scene markers, refedit fade, resident layout
wire-upload build_wire_buffers, which runs on the render thread
The wires-build line separates the parallel tessellate from the serial
materialize loop that deep-clones every WireModel while the memo retains
a second copy -- the leading hypothesis for both the stall and the
6.45 GB RSS.
No behaviour change. Every timer is gated on crate::perf::enabled(), so
nothing runs without PERF=1 or the in-app PERF panel. The localized
open-summary format string is left alone; changing it would rekey the
string across every locale, so the full breakdown goes to PERF instead.

Saving to a path that already holds a drawing fails on Windows with
"could not verify <path> before saving: ... (os error 33)". Save As over any
existing drawing is affected; saving to a new path is not.
EditLease::acquire() opens the destination and takes the platform drawing
lock on it, then the save fingerprints the same path to check nothing changed
underneath. LockFileEx is mandatory and scoped to the handle that took it, so
that second open is refused against our own lock, lands in the non-NotFound
arm and aborts the save. flock on Unix is advisory and the second open
succeeds, so neither CI nor a Linux desktop sees it.
Read through the handle the lease already holds instead. A duplicate shares
the lock ownership, so the pre-replace re-check on the save worker can use
one too rather than re-opening the path.
The same collision reached the headless open op, which read a path this
session may hold leased: automation's save_then_open_round_trips fails on
main for that reason, one line after the save it no longer reaches.
The last four truck crates are gone from the manifest. What they were doing
falls into three parts, and each now has one answer instead of two.
NURBS evaluation. truck was carrying B-spline curves and surfaces for the
SPLINE entity, hatch boundaries, BLEND's endpoint frames, the spline preview
and ACIS spline-surface faces. The kernel now has both, over one de Boor
written across however many coordinates a control point holds — so a plane
curve and a space curve cannot drift apart, and a surface is the same
algorithm applied twice. The rational and the polynomial cases stop being
separate types: weights absent means polynomial.
The entity conversion. Every LINE, ARC, ELLIPSE, SPLINE and polyline was
built into truck topology purely so it could be sampled back into points.
They are sampled through `entities::curve` now, which is where each one's
geometry is already defined once and what EXTRUDE and REVOLVE read — so a
circle drawn on screen and a circle handed to the Model tab come from the
same definition. That retires four of TruckObject's variants and the module
is renamed for what it does.
SWEEP and LOFT. Both only ever produced a mesh, so both are built from point
lists: a band of quads per span, and a lid where a profile closes. Lofting
profiles of different densities resamples them by distance rather than by
index, so a circle lofted to a square no longer twists.
Two things worth noting for anyone reading the old comments. The tolerance
globals that lived in the tessellation module were never about truck at all —
they are the per-frame chord height, and they move to `curve_tol`. And the
rule that a profile handed over as `Lines` silently broke EXTRUDE and REVOLVE
no longer holds: those read the curve directly and never look at this channel.
The two `automation` test failures are unchanged from before this and are not
caused by it.

Reading a drawing by path is gated off on wasm, and two features added
since 0.9.3 call it unconditionally: importing a drawing as a block, and
taking layer standards from one. Both compile into the web build, so the
web bundle stopped building and the v0.9.4 Pages deploy failed.
Neither feature can work in the browser — a file arrives through the page,
not from a filesystem the app can open — so the fix is not to make them
work but to let them say so. `load_file` now exists on wasm and returns
that as its error, which both callers already surface. Keeping the
signature means neither has to know that the web has no files, and the
next feature that reads a second drawing will not break the bundle
either.

Drawings arrive from elsewhere carrying someone else's layer names, and
folding them into a set of house layers meant renaming and merging by
hand, one layer at a time.
LAYTRANS reads a layer set out of another drawing and moves this one onto
it. Given a file it maps every name the two already share and translates
at once, which is all most incoming drawings need. Bare, it opens a
translator: the drawing's layers on one side, the loaded set on the
other, mappings built up between them and applied only on Translate, so a
mapping can be reconsidered and the whole translation is a single undo
step. Mappings can be saved and read back, objects can be forced to
ByLayer so the target layer's properties are what actually shows, and the
result can be written out as a log.
The move itself is the one LAYMRG already made for a single pair, so
LAYMRG now goes through it too rather than keeping its own copy.
Three things fell out for free or nearly so. A standards file is a
drawing, so .dws and .dwt need nothing but a place in the file filter.
The entity list is flat and holds block definitions, so objects inside
blocks travel with everything else instead of being stranded on a layer
that no longer exists. And a target layer that this drawing already has
is left alone: the drawing has an opinion about it, and restyling it
would reach past what was asked for -- only newly created targets take
the standard's properties.
Mappings are saved beside the drawing rather than inside a DWS. That is
where AutoCAD keeps them, but putting them there would mean inventing a
place in the drawing that nothing else reads back.

SHAPE entities only drew a diamond placeholder — .SHX files were never
parsed. A new reader (scene/text/shx.rs) decodes the classic
`AutoCAD-86 shapes 1.0/1.1` container and interprets the full shape
bytecode — pen up/down, scale divide/multiply, position push/pop,
subshapes, signed XY runs, octant/fractional/bulge arcs, the 16
direction vectors and the vertical-only skip — into unit-space
polylines, cached per file and per shape number.
The entity resolves its STYLE by handle (name fallback), the style's
shape file with the shared path fallbacks (as stored → relative to the
drawing → basename next to it; traded files carry foreign absolute
paths), then places the glyph with size × relative X scale, oblique
shear and rotation through the OCS mapping. load_file now records
doc.source_path so render-time resolution knows the drawing's folder.
A missing or unreadable shape file keeps the diamond placeholder.

PDF underlays only drew their clip outline / insertion cross; the page
itself never appeared. The chain now runs: the definition's file path
resolves with the raster-image fallbacks (as stored, relative to the
drawing, basename next to the drawing — attach-time relative paths go
stale), the page rasterises through the system pdftoppm (poppler) at
150 dpi — no new crate; missing tool degrades to the outline — cached
per (path, page) including negative results, and the pixels feed the
existing image pipeline as an ImageModel: 1 underlay unit = 1 PDF inch
(px/dpi × entity scale), rotated about the insertion, fade as opacity,
the clip polygon (non-inverted) as the textured region. Draw-order,
layer visibility and per-viewport freezes ride the generic image path;
in-place edits rebuild through the shared image seed.
When the page renders, the wire path draws its frame with an interior
pick surface instead of the lone cross, so selection covers the visible
page. wasm keeps the outline placeholder (no external process).

Every rfd dialog result funnels through sys::handle_path, which now
records the picked file's folder (persisted to the config dir), and all
pickers are built via sys::file_dialog(), seeded with that folder.
Save-As keeps the current tab's own directory as the first choice and
falls back to the remembered one.

Section marks and drawing-view borders are now real acadrust entity
types instead of Unknown-with-extras, so the renderer dispatches on the
variant directly, the arrow-direction resolver reads the active viewport
off the ViewBorder entity, and selection / properties show "Section
Symbol" and "View Border" instead of "Unknown". View borders are
non-plotting and tessellate to nothing; both count toward the lossy
Save-As warning since they round-trip via their raw records.
Bumps acadrust for the entity promotion.

Double-clicking a drawing started a whole second copy of the app. Now it
lands as a tab in the editor already open, and that window comes forward.
The election is the bind itself: every GUI launch tries a deterministic
per-user loopback port, and the OS grants it to exactly one process and
releases it on any death, SIGKILL included. Nothing to reap, no PID to
probe, no stale lock after a crash. The winner serves the port from an
iced subscription; the loser checks it is talking to a matching editor,
hands the paths over and exits. Every surprise — no answer, a stranger on
the port, a timeout — boots a normal window, i.e. the old behaviour: the
feature can degrade, but it cannot lose the file.
The gate in main is positional, after every headless mode has returned.
The plugin runner is this same binary re-spawning itself, so a flag list
would rot the first time a mode is added; a position cannot.
Handing a drawing over that is already open switches to its tab instead
of loading a second copy, comparing resolved paths so a symlink or a
`..` hop is still recognised as the same file.
`opening` is a single slot that a second open would overwrite, and
on_file_opened drops any result arriving once it is clear — so drawings
handed over at once would silently vanish. They queue in pending_opens,
drained from every path that clears the slot, error and cancel included.
Exec becomes %F so one launch takes the whole selection; the CLI takes a
list and boot fans it out through the same door. --new-instance forces a
separate process; --read-only / --script / --new always get their own.
Not reused: the automation server. It dispatches arbitrary commands and
writes arbitrary paths, and its open replaces the active tab's document
in place — publishing that on a port every local process can reach would
be unforced privilege escalation. Only its JSON-lines framing is shared.

WebGL2 has no vertex/fragment storage buffers, so the batched storage-buffer
hatch renderer (hatch_gpu) is disabled on wasm and real hatch fills never
rendered on the web build — the pick highlighted the boundary and the command
then appeared to cancel (issue #204).
Add a wasm-only per-hatch renderer (hatch_web_gpu + hatch_web.wgsl) that packs
the variable-length boundary / family / dash arrays into one RGBA32F data
texture read with textureLoad, instead of the fixed-size uniforms of the
wipeout path. This removes the MAX_FAMILIES (16) / MAX_HATCH_BOUNDARY_VERTS
(1024) / MAX_DASHES (128) caps, so every hatch — solid, gradient, and
arbitrarily complex line patterns — renders on the web. The fill algorithm
(in_polygon, per-family line/dash/dot, gradient, LOD, double-single vertex
transform) is identical to the desktop path; only the array ACCESS changes.
Pattern phase is anchored at world_origin with the boundary stored raw, and
scale / gradient-range clamped, to match the desktop batched renderer exactly.
Native (hatch_gpu + hatch.wgsl) and the wipeout mask renderer are untouched;
the new module and pipeline are gated on target_arch = "wasm32".
Also silence the resulting (and pre-existing) wasm-only dead-code warnings for
native-only paths so both the native and web builds compile clean.

Some DWGs written by other programs leave the root named-objects
dictionary unrecoverable: the header pointer names a non-dictionary and
the real NOD child dicts are owned by a table-control handle, so nothing
has owner==NULL. Navigating the root then silently no-ops, and
registering a new named-object entry (page setup, annotation scale, CTAB)
against the missing root orphans it — it never round-trips.
Add shared annotative::root_named_dict_handle(): resolve the header
pointer, else adopt the richest owner==NULL dict, else synthesise a fresh
root and write it back. Route ensure_plotsettings_dict, add_scale's
scalelist-create branch, and set_saved_active_layout through it. Resolve
the plot-settings dict via the PlotSettings owner when the header pointer
is stale, mirroring scalelist_dict_handle.
Verified page setups survive a DWG save/reload on the repro file with
layouts intact.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <[email protected]>
Saving from a non-first paper layout still reopened on the first paper
tab: set_saved_active_layout only updated an existing CTAB entry, but
documents authored here never carried one, so CTAB was never written and
the reader fell back to $TILEMODE (which only records model-vs-paper) →
the first paper layout.
set_saved_active_layout now creates the CTAB DICTIONARYVAR under the root
named-object dictionary when it is absent (updating in place otherwise).
The root dictionary is taken from the header handle, or found by scanning
for the dictionary that holds ACAD_LAYOUT when a from-scratch document
has not populated the header handle yet. The writers persist it (they
serialize the document's objects and root-dictionary entries; the
root-dict rebuild in CadDocument::build() is not run on save).
Adds tests/active_space_roundtrip.rs, including a full DXF save→reload
round-trip asserting both $TILEMODE and CTAB survive.
