Create a new named definition from current session edits, restore the source checkpoint, and continue editing the copy with fresh local history. Add the name dialog and Save dropdown, clone supported owned metadata onto independent handles, and refuse unsupported relationships atomically.
The right-edge toolbar of a REFEDIT session now shows the definition
being edited (REFEDITNAME) as an accent pill with the number of objects
in the working set, Add to / Remove from Working Set buttons with their
own icons (REFSET Add / Remove, straight to object selection), and
Save / Discard in a separate group below a rule.

IMAGEADJUST (alias IAD) takes the selected raster images or asks
"Select image(s):", then opens a dialog with a before/after preview of
the first image and brightness, contrast and fade rows (bar plus
stepper, whole numbers 0-100). Apply writes the values to every chosen
image as one undo step; restore defaults sets 50/50/0. Adds the
image_adjust automation action and the image-adjust locale group.

MATCHPROP transfers properties from a source object onto others, so the CAD
crosshair gives way to a monochrome paintbrush whose tip sits on the pick
point - the AutoCAD feel for the same command.
The glyph borrows the crosshair's own colour (including a user-customised
one) and uses a single stroke weight plus one filled wedge, so it reads as
part of the CAD cursor family rather than clip-art. It is drawn instead of
the crosshair, never on top of it, and only while the command is armed.
One finger already worked as the mouse. Two or more fingers now make a
gesture instead of fighting over the cursor: two drag to pan and pinch to
zoom about the fingers, three drag to orbit; a quick two-finger tap opens
the context menu, a three-finger tap zooms to the extents and a quick
three-finger swipe up shows the isometric view. While a gesture runs the
drawing area's own pointer handling keeps out, and the press the first
finger started is dropped.

Options > Display gains Window Elements with "Show the menu bar"
(MENUBAR) and "Show the ribbon" (RIBBON / RIBBONCLOSE); Options > User
Preferences gains a Hatch switch for HPASSOC. The command line now
starts at 80 % opacity so the drawing shows through it.

MENUBAR 1 shows File, Edit, View, Insert, Format, Tools, Draw,
Dimension, Modify, Parametric and Help menus above the ribbon; every
entry runs an existing command, and a test keeps each entry pointing at
a registered command. RIBBONCLOSE hides the ribbon and RIBBON brings it
back, so the menus can replace it. Both choices persist.
Also translates the "File" label, which every locale had left in
English.

- The background image texture is not an sRGB view: the image is drawn with
its own colours, as the solid and gradient colours are.
- An entered paper-space viewport shows its named visual style (Realistic,
...) in the render-mode picker, and a mode picked there is recorded as the
viewport's visual style.
- The view_background automation action takes offset=x,y and scale=x,y.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <[email protected]>
- Selection filter: condition rows name INSERT as a block reference, as
the object-type list does since #1726 (shared qselect_type_label).
- MCP: re-pin the tool schema digest for the view_background action
added in #1722.
- -VIEW: fix an indentation slip and wrap two long lines from #1722.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <[email protected]>
- Gradients: the middle colour sits (horizon - 0.5) viewport widths from the
centre and blends over height viewport heights each side; two colours
blend over a viewport height each side.
- Image backgrounds: offset in device pixels (right, down), negative scale
mirrors, fitted with aspect ratio covers the viewport; the dialog keeps an
image's offset and scale.
- Layouts: a model-space view restored on a sheet asks for the viewport,
enters it and gives it the view's camera, background and visual style;
inside a viewport the view goes there; a paper-space view's background is
kept on the sheet viewport but not drawn; floating viewports draw their
background.
- Background objects no view or viewport uses any more are erased; a view
without a background restored where the viewport already is leaves the
viewport's background.
- The viewport's named visual style (Realistic, ...) shows by name and the
render-mode picker records its style on the viewport record.

Session recovery: more than one pending snapshot adds a 'Restore all'
button to the Recover Drawing modal — every snapshot goes through the
exact same guarded path as a single restore (deleted only after its
own open succeeds). The open-tab list and active tab persist to
localStorage on web (open/save/close) and the remembered tab is
re-selected once a restore batch settles; the modal notes how many
drawings the session had. Nothing is auto-opened.
Deep links: ?file=<url|name> opens a drawing at boot. http(s) URLs
must end in .dwg/.dxf and are fetched with the same streaming,
64 MB-capped, 8 s-deadline reader the remote images use, then go
through the guarded open queue; cross-origin opens announce the
origin first. Bare names resolve from the browser's recent storage,
with a hint when absent. Everything else (file:, javascript:, drive
letters, non-drawing tails) is refused with a console note.
Offline PWA: the app was installable (manifest) but downloaded its
55 MB bundle on every visit. A cache-first service worker now serves
the whole bundle from Cache Storage after one online visit —
navigations network-first so updates land, hashed assets
stale-while-revalidate, non-GET/cross-origin passthrough, old caches
cleaned on activate, and the waiting-worker update flow documented.
The Pages workflow stamps the cache version from the bundle hash and
fails if sw.js is missing or unstamped.
(cherry picked from commit 5f9b345e)
Ported onto main (#1717 review): the cache-version stamp moved from the
skipped build-web.sh wrapper into the Pages workflow; the tab-close hook
lands in main's on_tab_close, which also cancels pinned control requests.
The web build had no autosave: on_autosave was a no-op and the
subscription was native-only. Both gates are gone; every savetime tick
now serializes each dirty tab (same pre-serialize sync as the web save
path, no thumbnail, serialized serially off the critical paint path)
into a dedicated opencadstudio-autosave OPFS directory, keyed by
drawing name, without touching the dirty flag, downloads, or recents.
On boot the web app scans that directory and offers any snapshot
newer than the last saved copy in a localized Recover Drawing modal
(Restore opens it as "name (recovered).dwg" through the standard
open pipeline; Discard removes it; Escape discards). Saving or
closing a drawing clears its snapshot; the boot scan also garbage-
collects stale entries. run_web now requests navigator.storage.persist
so settings and OPFS data survive browser eviction.

Color, Gradient and Image at the background prompt open a Background
dialog (None / Solid / Gradient / Image, preview, solid colour, two- or
three-colour gradient with rotation, image file with position and
scale). Apply links the view to a new background object in
ACAD_BACKGROUND; restoring a view gives the model viewport a copy of
it (or none), and saving a view copies the viewport's background.

#1713 dispatched a captured SPACE as a shortcut whenever it was rebound,
so with SPACE on FINALIZE a space typed into any other text field (layer
names, Properties, find) also ran FINALIZE, and the space it typed stayed
in the command line. Ask whether the command input has focus before
running the binding, and drop the space the field already inserted.

Resolved conflicts:
- app/update/mod.rs: keep the dock's dock_open_at_default for the XREF
manager; take main's stable xref row identity (row_index(&id)).
- app/view/mod.rs: keep the edge layout from app::dock; drop main's copy
of the old edge-stack code (main only reformatted it there).
- ui/window/layers.rs: keep main's new visible_indices next to the
branch's view_panel.
Files the branch only reformatted take main's version. Adds the Lao
(lo-LA) translations for the new dock texts.

A focused text field reports Status::Captured, so the key dispatch
dropped SPACE and a CUI rebind of SPACE to FINALIZE never ran while the
command line held focus (#1710). Dispatch a captured SPACE as a shortcut
only when SPACE is bound to something other than COMMANDSPACE, so the
default binding still types a space. The closure stays a plain fn, so a
static flag mirrors the binding and is refreshed wherever the bindings
change.
The edge-stack closure duplicated dock_panel_visible arm-for-arm; it now delegates (tab is provably the active tab at that site). Ribbon.layer_names was written but never read outside one test; deleted, test reads via layer_infos. Faces and combo-refresh sub-items investigated and dropped (already unified upstream; no live stale path). Tests: dock visibility parity pins incl. Start-tab. Full suite: 2046 passed / 0 failed / 25 ignored, zero warnings.
editor_layer_row and view_editor took Vec<String>, cloning N strings per row per frame (times two build-closure runs). Both take Arc<[String]> now; a plain borrow cannot cross the twice-run closure (E0373), hence the Arc. Cow empty-filter short-circuit for both search queries. Test: view_editor_accepts_shared_linetypes (RED first). Full suite: 2029 passed / 0 failed / 25 ignored, zero warnings.
- The dock's state handling and drawing move out of update/dialog.rs and
view/mod.rs into src/app/dock/ (update.rs, view.rs, tests.rs). The
overlay view_main stacked over the workspace (floating pallets, + menu,
drag preview, pointer capture) becomes one `dock_overlay` call. Code is
moved, not changed.
- Strip icons no longer show the pallet name on hover.
- Tests trimmed where they overlapped: the top / bottom half drops are
one test, the two hover tests are one, and the in-group icon reorder,
raise-float, empty floating title bar and slot-span tests are dropped
(each is covered by another test).

No intended behaviour change except the fixes noted below.
- One drag state: a single `DockDrag` (move pallet / group, width,
splitter, floating size, Layer Manager column) replaces nine fields
(dragging, dragging group, resizing, split, float resizing, origin,
target, grab offset, layer column flag) that had to be kept in sync.
- `dock_expanded` becomes `dock_peek` with one meaning: a pallet revealed
although it auto-hides. `dock_reveal(id)` shows a pallet's group and
peeks it; commands that open a pallet now use it, so opening a pallet
also switches its edge to that pallet's group.
- Each group stores its own width (falling back to its widest pallet's
width until first sized), instead of every pallet's width being kept in
sync. Pallet widths now only size floating pallets and new groups.
- One `dock_set_open(id, open)` holds every pallet's open and close path.
- Leftovers removed: the tab-group config format that never reached main,
the multi-tab drag ghost header, the separate icon-hover message.
Fixes:
- Hovering a strip icon reveals an auto-hiding edge again (the icons had
lost the hover message in the option B strip). Covered by a test that
moves the pointer over the icon in the real view.

- Double-clicking a docked or floating title bar did nothing. iced keeps
a widget's state (including the first click of a double-click) only
while the widget tree keeps its shape, and pressing a title bar starts
a possible drag that wrapped the workspace in an extra pointer-capture
layer, rebuilding the title bar and forgetting the first click. The
workspace is now always inside the same stack and mouse area; the
capture handlers are only attached while dragging. A test drives the
real view through iced's UserInterface (keeping its cache between
events, as the runtime does) and fails without this fix.
- The shown group's edge bar was shorter than its row (the tooltip
around the edge band sized it to its content), so it looked off
centre. Band and bar now have explicit heights.
- Picking a pallet in the + menu closes the menu.

The icon strip follows the agreed "option B" concept:
- Flat 40 px strip; groups are rows of their pallets' icons separated by
hairline dividers, with no grip lines. The + button is a small round
button under the last group.
- The shown group is marked by a blue bar on its window-side edge and
brighter icons. That 8 px edge band is the group grip: hovering it
widens and lights the bar, tints the row, shows a grab cursor and a
"Drag to move group" tooltip; dragging it moves the whole group.
- Icons still drag single pallets: within their group or into another
group (between its icons), or onto a divider to start a new group.
Hovering an icon gives it a soft background and shows its name.
- Drop feedback: a short accent line with end caps between icons means
"join this group here" (the target group's bar lights up); a
full-width line on a divider with a "+ New group" badge means "new
group here". The dragged icon (or whole group) fades in place and a
ghost follows the pointer.
- The zone around a divider (a few px into the icons on either side)
starts a new group; the lower half of a group's last icon still joins
that group at the end.

- Auto-hide is a setting of the left / right edge rather than of each
pallet: the pin on any docked pallet turns it on for its whole edge,
which then shows only its icon strip until an icon is hovered. A
floating pallet keeps its own auto-hide.
- Hovering the strip icons only shows a group while the edge auto-hides;
otherwise groups switch on click.
- The + menu checks only the pallets open on that edge. Picking one that
is open elsewhere (the other edge, floating) moves it to this edge;
unchecking a checked one hides it.

A group is now a set of pallets shown together, stacked top to bottom,
and an edge shows one group at a time. The icon strip lists every group
(grip bar over its pallets' icons, the shown group on a grey
background); clicking any icon of a group shows that whole group.
- Dropping a pallet on the top / bottom half of a pallet in the shown
group stacks it above / below; dropping on the strip's icons places it
in that group at that spot, and on a grip or below the last group
starts a new group (which is then shown).
- Splitters set the heights of the pallets within a group; double-click
makes them equal again.
- Each group keeps its own width; the divider sizes only the group it
belongs to, and switching groups switches width.
- A group whose pallets all auto-hide shows only while hovered.
- Layouts saved by older builds load with their stacked pallets as one
group.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_013RyGiMXcsf9HTKfqDxaQGt
Each dock edge now has a vertical icon strip along the window edge in
place of the horizontal tab row and the auto-hide rail.
- Every shown group gets a grip bar with its pallets' icons below it;
the shown pallet's icon has a grey background. Clicking an icon shows
that pallet in its group; hovering the icons of an auto-hiding group
opens it.
- Dragging an icon within the strip reorders it or moves it into
another group; dropping it on a grip or below the last group makes it
a new group there. On the pallet area, the top / bottom bands still
start a new group above / below and the middle joins the group.
- Dragging a grip moves the whole group to another position or edge.
- A + button under the groups opens the pallet menu (icon, name, check
mark). Opening a pallet from it docks it on that edge as a new group,
or in its existing group there; a checked pallet is hidden.
- Groups keep their width when moved; the divider against the viewport
sizes the whole edge column.

- The tab row shows only when at least two pallets share a slot.
- Tab icons are larger (18 px). The shown tab gets the grey background
without a border; other tabs have no background.
- The pallet menu was drawn by a dropdown that squeezed it to one icon
wide. It is now its own overlay hanging under the menu button, laid
out like the right-click menu: pallet icon, name, and a check mark on
the right for the pallets shown in this slot. Any click outside closes
it.

- LAYERS opens the Layer Manager as a dockable pallet instead of a modal
dialog with a darkened backdrop. It floats over the middle of the
drawing the first time and keeps its place after that; LAYERS again
(or its close button) hides it. The table keeps its natural width and
scrolls sideways when the pallet is narrower, and the Name column
divider now drags through the dock's pointer capture. Ctrl+A selects
all layers while a layer row is selected in the open pallet.
- The Layer Manager is listed in the tab-row pallet menu like the others.
- Double-clicking a docked title bar floats the panel beside its edge;
double-clicking a floating title bar docks the panel on the side its
title bar faces.

- Dropping on a docked pallet now stacks it above or below over the top
and bottom 35 % of the slot; only the middle 30 % makes it a tab.
- Tabs show the pallet icon (title as tooltip), aligned to the left.
Every docked slot has the tab row, so its menu is always reachable.
- A menu button at the right of the tab row lists every pallet with a
check mark for those shown in this slot. Checking one opens it as a
tab here (moving it from wherever it was docked); unchecking hides it
and keeps its tab for next time.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_013RyGiMXcsf9HTKfqDxaQGt
- Dragging a tab along its slot's tab strip moves it to the gap under the
pointer; the drop preview shows the new tab order. A panel dragged from
elsewhere onto a tab strip lands at that position too. A drop in the
middle of the slot still appends a newcomer and leaves a member where
it is.
- All tabs of a slot share one width: a joining panel takes the slot's
width, resizing or resetting one tab sizes them all, and slots sized
apart by older configs render at their widest tab. Switching tabs no
longer changes the column width.
- Hovering an auto-hide rail raises its slot without turning the rail
blue.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_013RyGiMXcsf9HTKfqDxaQGt
- Docked title bars show the pin and close only while the pointer is
over the bar; the bar keeps a fixed height so nothing jumps.
- Auto-hide on is drawn as a 30° tilted pin (new pin_active.svg)
instead of a coloured button background, on docked and floating bars.
- A floating panel's resize grip sits in the bottom corner away from its
title bar. With the bar on the right it is bottom-left (new mirrored
resize_left.svg) and resizing from there keeps the right edge fixed.
The bar stays on its side while resizing.
- While a floating panel is dragged, only the drop preview shows it; the
panel no longer stays drawn at its old place.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_013RyGiMXcsf9HTKfqDxaQGt
Every docked panel now shows its title bar flush along the top, like the
Properties panel: dock::frame takes the title bar separately and pads
only the content below it.
A floating panel drops its horizontal title bar for a vertical one on
the side facing the nearer workspace edge. Close and the auto-hide pin
sit at the top; the panel's icon sits at the bottom with the title
reading upward above it. The free part of the bar drags the panel. With
auto-hide on, a floating panel shrinks to its title bar until hovered.
Panel views take a dock::Chrome (auto-collapse plus floating) in place
of the bare auto-collapse flag, so the shared title bar knows when to
step aside.

Panels can now float over the workspace, share a docked slot as tabs,
and split an edge at heights the user picks.
- Dropping a panel away from the edges floats it at the pointer. Floating
panels move by their title bar, resize from a corner grip, and come to
the front when clicked.
- Dropping in the top or bottom quarter of a docked slot docks the panel
above or below it, as before. Dropping in the middle adds the panel as
a tab of that slot. Pressing a tab shows that panel; dragging a tab
pulls the panel out again.
- While dragging, a blue ghost previews the result: the new slot, the
slot with its future tab row, or the floating window.
- A splitter between stacked slots sets their heights; double-click it
to make the slots equal again. Heights persist.
- A press only becomes a drag after 5 px of movement, so clicking a title
bar or tab never moves the panel.
The persisted layout now stores each edge as tab groups with a height
weight, plus a list of floating panels. Configs with the old
bare-panel-id stacks still load as single-panel slots.
