William Dunn d302aa1a00 Construction Geometries, a Sketch Palette row that hides construction geometry (#804)

William Dunn aae70053ee Let the conic tool take a typed Rho, and preview the curve it is about to draw (#736)
The conic tool takes a typed Rho in its canvas value box and previews the curve it's about to draw, with the tangent legs as a faint guide.

7db66bb824 Pick a horizontal or vertical dimension from where its text is placed (#345)
Between two points, or on a line, that don't line up with an axis, the
Sketch Dimension tool only offered the distance between them: an auto
dimension ignored where its text went. Now the placement picks what it
measures: across from the two (between the perpendiculars through them)
the distance between them, as before; past that, above or below them the
horizontal distance, beside them the vertical one. With no text, an
explicit type, or two ends already on an axis, nothing changes.

The tool previews the dimension from the cursor, so the choice follows
the pointer while placing it.

Iraklis KourtisandClaude Opus 5.5 fe4d171e22 feat(sketch): live drag that keeps its solution, ended by sketch.drag_end (#341)
* feat(sketch): constructive solving ahead of the numeric solver

Part 1 of splitting #251: the sketch crate only. A graph-constructive front
end (Owen 1991; Fudos & Hoffmann 1997) places what it can by ruler-and-compass
loci and cluster decomposition, Levenberg-Marquardt finishes and verifies the
rest, and the rank analysis stays authoritative for degrees of freedom. Solves
can follow a reference (the previous solution), so edits and drags keep their
branch instead of flipping.

New API: solve_with (hold, reference, analysis, budget) and
solve_after_value_edit; solve and solve_holding keep their signatures as
wrappers, so no caller changes here.

When the seed moves an arc's centre, the arc's unconstructed ends start carried
along (the arc translates) instead of left behind for LM to turn; found by the
reference test 20-slot-constrained.

* feat(doc): keep a sketch's solved state across value edits

Part 2 of splitting #251 (builds on part 1, the sketch crate):
- Sketch edits solve for the document's values continuing from the stored
solved state (Document::solve_sketch), so a dimension edit keeps the
sketch's branch instead of re-solving from scratch.
- A value edit (parameters, a configuration, the units) that would make a
sketch that solved before fail or turn over is refused with the
conflicting constraints named; otherwise the solved sketches are written
back into the document (Model::adopt_solved_sketches), which changes what
  saved designs store.
- Later features are keyed by a sketch's solved geometry (to a 1e-6 mm
quantum), so setting a value back reuses their earlier results.
- Solved sketches in a model state are shared (Arc) between states.

* feat(sketch): live drag that keeps its solution, ended by sketch.drag_end

Part 3 of splitting #251 (builds on part 2):
- sketch.drag follows a long move in short held steps, so the geometry keeps
its branch, and reports how far it got (reached, at).
- live: true runs one frame of an interactive drag: the sketch is solved
once and shown, later features keep their last result (marked stale)
until sketch.drag_end or any command that reads the model evaluates it
  (CommandSpec::live, reads_model, doc_only).
- sketch.drag_end adds the constraint the drag let go on and evaluates the
  model once.
- Undo and redo evaluate a new document once (execute does) instead of
  twice.
- The viewport drives drags through live frames and drag_end; dimension
text drags start only off sketch geometry.

fix(sketch): a centerline can be switched straight to construction

tbreckle 6dc6372b13 fix(sketch): a centerline can be switched straight to construction
sketch.construction set `construction` but left `centerline` on, so the
curve stayed a centerline (drawn dash-dot, still marked as an axis) until
it was first switched back to normal. Making a curve construction now
clears its centerline flag, mirroring sketch.centerline.

lillith 1adb2cd69f fix: accept two line picks for sketch coincidence 2026-10-11 20:34:04 +02:00
CypherNaugh_0x 5d5ff44db2 Drawing connects to existing points: a new point landing exactly on an existing point (the origin too) gets a coincident constraint in the engine, for every drawing command and every caller (MCP, scripts, clicks), in the same undo step; connect: false opts out. Re-tying an existing coincident returns it ("existing": true) instead of failing; the UI's after-the-fact tie_snaps is gone 2026-10-10 12:08:19 -04:00
bherbruckandClaude Opus 5.5 d10312b7fd Command ids are SolveCraft's own: 173 ids that were another product's internal command ids become dotted, lower-case ids (<area>.<thing>[.<variant>]: solid.extrude, sketch.rectangle.two_point, sheet.flange, joint.drive, ...), in the registry, toolbar, dialogs, shortcuts, palette, control channel, MCP, examples, scenarios and docs
The old ids live only in crates/engine/src/legacy_ids.rs (the legacy migration table): find_command maps them, so old scripts, recipes and control calls keep working, and saved shortcuts, recent and pinned commands are migrated on load (designs store no command ids). Parity maps the observed catalog ids to ours through xtask/data/fusion-ids.tsv. The agent rule now reads: our own dotted id, never another product's. Cargo.toml's repository points at github.com/bherbruck/solvecraft.

bherbruckandClaude Opus 5.5 d40ef5bbdc 3D sketch: with 3D Sketch on, the Line, Spline and Point tools take points off the sketch plane, snapping to model vertices, edges and faces and to drawn 3D points (segments that stay on the plane are ordinary sketch lines); drawn 3D curves are wires with fit points (sketch.line3d, sketch.spline3d: centripetal Catmull-Rom, sketch.point3d), a clicked 3D point gets a move triad (drag along X/Y/Z or parallel to the sketch plane: sketch.move3d, joined ends move together), Delete removes it; sweep and pipe paths may mix 3D curves with sketch curves; control: ui.triad, ui.worldToScreen

bherbruckandClaude Opus 5.5 d2068e07a3 Selection inside sketches: double-click a curve selects the chain joined to it end to end (sketch.chain; shared or coincident ends), dimensions and constraint glyphs are selectable like other entities (Sel::SketchConstraint: Ctrl/Shift toggle, window and crossing boxes take them, Delete removes them with the rest), boxes leave out the origin, and the selection filter has sketch curves, points, dimensions and constraints

bherbruckandClaude Opus 5.5 f6b42f8750 Sketch drag feel like Fusion (sketch.drag): the grabbed point goes exactly to the cursor, a line (spline, conic) slides with it, a circle or arc grabbed on its edge changes radius about its centre (an ellipse its minor radius), the centre moves the circle; the grabbed geometry is held while the rest moves as little as it can; fixed and fully constrained geometry stays. Dragging a curve of the sketch being edited now drags it (it used to start a box selection). Tests for per-entity fully-constrained feedback

bherbruckandClaude Opus 5.5 7f9a8f2afd Two-entity constraints move only the second pick (tangent, parallel, perpendicular, equal, concentric, coincident, collinear, symmetric, midpoint): the constraint is applied with the first entity held (solve_holding), the second keeping its size where it can (lines turn and slide, circles translate), then resizing; if the second is fixed, projected or fully constrained the first moves instead, and if neither can the constraint is refused and nothing changes; later solves hold nothing. Context-menu constraints keep the selection order; a curve picked before a point puts the point on the curve
