An OTRACK crossing is the meeting of two tracking vectors, but
`OtrackHit` carried only the one a typed distance is measured along, so
the overlay had a single guide to draw. Snapping to the crossing of two
vectors worked and looked like an unexplained point on one line.
Carry the crossed ray out of `otrack_snap` as `OtrackHit::cross`, keep it
on the app beside `otrack_active`, and let the overlay take a list of
guides rather than one. `otrack_active` still drives typed-distance
entry on its own, so distance entry is unchanged.

(cherry picked from commit 2f6caacece)
Tables copied from other applications into the plot styles folder were
listed but refused on selection, showing as "missing" with the reason
lost on a console: the loader failed hard on a checksum or a text length
that did not add up and on any non-UTF-8 byte — and those files carry
their descriptions in Windows-1252.
- decompress_ctb reads the file as it is: a checksum or length mismatch is
reported and read past (a genuinely cut-off file is still an error), a
zlib stream with a bad trailer is retried as raw deflate, and text that
is not UTF-8 is read as Windows-1252 (pens and colours are numbers and
unaffected; other code pages only show wrong characters in descriptions).
- PlotStyleTable carries load_warnings; every load site reports them on the
command line, so a table that needed tolerance says so.
- load_named explains itself: a .stb name says named tables are not
supported yet, a .ctb missing from the folder says which folder to copy
it into (instead of "Unknown built-in plot style").
- The Plot dialog shows the reason under the Table row (style_error) —
from a selection, from a page setup that names a table, and from the
Load… picker, whose error used to be swallowed.
- A table picked with Load… from outside the plot styles folder is copied
into it (unless a file of that name is already there), so it is listed
from then on and page setups naming it resolve after a restart.
Tests: flipped checksum, text length off by one, a short payload field,
Windows-1252 descriptions, a truncated stream, .stb and missing names.

The Options window used to commit every control the moment it was
touched, with no way back but re-editing. It now works like the Drafting
Settings window: changes still show at once (a theme, a cursor size or a
language is seen immediately), but nothing is committed until Apply or OK.
Close — and the window's × or Esc — puts everything back the way it was
when the window opened or Apply was last pressed, asking first when there
is something to lose.
The commit point is a snapshot of the persisted configuration plus the
drawing variables the 3D Modeling page edits (with the drawing's modified
flag), so every control the window has or gains is covered without being
registered; reverting re-applies the snapshot the way start-up does and
re-bakes text or regenerates solids when those settings moved.
The "unsaved changes" guard is now a shared modal helper used by both
windows.

- PSETUPIN / -PSETUPIN: with no arguments a file picker offers the chosen
drawing's named page setups in the Plot dialog; `PSETUPIN <file>` opens
the same chooser on that file; `PSETUPIN <file> *` or
`PSETUPIN <file> name,name` import straight away. Same-named setups are
replaced, the import is one undo step, and the report counts both.
- The Plot dialog's page-setup list gains "Import…": the chooser shows the
source drawing's setups with a tick each, All, Import and Cancel, and
selects the first imported setup afterwards. The source is read off the
UI thread with the same reader the editor uses for its own setups
(`scene::document_page_setups`), and handles that only meant something
in the source drawing (plot view, visual style) are dropped on import.
- Options → General → Plotting: "Show the page setup for new layouts"
opens the Plot / Page Setup dialog whenever a layout is created
(persisted with the plot preferences).
Tests: the document reader, the command (all / named / unknown / missing
file / undo) against a drawing saved by the app, the chooser flow, and the
new-layout option. Nine new strings in all 21 locales.

Older GPUs without usable DirectX 12 Feature Level 12_0 or working
Vulkan support (e.g. legacy Intel iGPUs and other old parts), and old
GLES drivers whose shader compiler rejects iced's own shaders, crash
at startup or on the first drawing viewport: StagingBelt aborts in
Buffer::get_mapped_range (panic=abort, silent exit) on the DX12 path,
and shader compilation fails inside iced's gradient pipeline on the
GLES path. Selecting a working backend via WGPU_BACKEND before iced
boots avoids both classes.
- Probe each candidate backend (Windows: dx12,vulkan,gl; Linux:
vulkan,gl) in an isolated --gpu-probe child: device request,
staging-style mapped upload, render pipeline creation (its fragment
shader reads a private vec4 array, catching old-Mesa compile
failures), offscreen render and readback. First fully-passing
backend wins; explicit --backend / WGPU_BACKEND / --safe-mode
always win, and Windows keeps preferring DX12/Vulkan (#55).
- Software adapters (WARP/llvmpipe/SwiftShader) are the last resort
before a best-effort GL attempt: slow but alive.
- The crash sentinel names the attempted backend so only implicated
backends are skipped next launch.
- Winning probes report adapter limits; GPUs without shader storage
buffers get the packed compatibility renderer automatically, with
a startup command-line notice so the switch is never silent.
The Display page could only take a typed #RRGGBB, which is precise but
no way to choose a colour by eye. The swatches are now buttons that
open a wheel.
The wheel does not replace the hex field, it sits beside it: typing an
exact value stays the quickest way to reproduce a known colour. On
submit it hands a hex string to the existing ModelSpaceBgChanged and
friends rather than writing the config itself, so the two routes
cannot drift apart on validation, persistence, or the MatchTheme
fallback an empty field triggers.
Also stops the Browser shipping in the default dock layout. It was
added to the right edge, which shifted the block palette to index 1
and broke four dock tests that encode the existing arrangement. Those
tests were right and the change was wrong: the earlier commit claimed
to leave the layout alone. BROWSER now docks the panel on first use,
so nobody's edges rearrange on upgrade for a panel they never asked
for.
A docked outline of the drawing: the three origin planes, the open
sketch, and every solid labelled with the operation that made it,
recovered through primitive_property_operation. Rows run ordinary
commands, so clicking a plane starts a sketch on it and clicking a
body selects it.
It is a table of contents, not a feature tree. The DWG history records
how each solid was built but nothing re-runs it, so an earlier feature
cannot be edited to rebuild the ones after it. Presenting the list as
editable history would promise exactly that, so the panel states what
it is instead.
Off by default and opened with BROWSER, leaving the existing dock
layout alone for anyone who does not want it.
The toolbar Help button was a disabled tip that could never be clicked. It now opens a modal window explaining the manager on the web build: read-only reference list, disabled Attach/Refresh/Change Path (no filesystem access or native file pickers, so no add/reload/repath and no previews), nested read-only rows, and saved-drawing requirement for relative paths.
Includes a Report-an-issue button opening the GitHub issues page and a Close button; wired as ModalKind::XrefHelp through the shared modal frame so dismissal works on native and web.
The Snap and Grid tab showed static grid values with dead checkboxes, and every grid line stroked identically.
Grid X/Y spacing and Major-line-every are now editable inputs (validated 2-100 for majors, dirty-tracked, applied with an error message on bad input); Adaptive-grid and Display-beyond-Limits checkboxes are wired to live state. Every Nth line partitions into major_segments and strokes subtly brighter (1.5x alpha, 0.75px) for the reference hierarchy. GRIDMAJOR state persists to UserSettings. Covers partition, invalidation, and parse tests.
The viewport grid ignored the configured spacing and forced square grids: compute_grid_step hardcoded a 1.0 base, a single shared step drove both line families (including the tangent derivative used for gap measurement), and the display always clipped to LIMITS despite the beyond-Limits option.
Grid spacing now scales per-axis from GRIDUNIT via compute_grid_steps (adaptive 5x growth, fixed passthrough), GridParams carries step_x/step_y, snap tolerances follow the visible steps, and the LIMITS clip is skipped when beyond-Limits is set. Also fixes a per-axis overflow fallback that returned the X base for Y. Spacing state (X/Y, adaptive, beyond-Limits) is stored on the app and persisted to UserSettings at defaults; dialog wiring follows separately.
The command menu now follows the commercial solutions' layout row for row: Enter, Cancel,
Recent Input ▸, the command's keywords, Snap Overrides ▸ (every object snap
with its glyph, Mid Between 2 Points, None, Osnap Settings…), then Pan and
Zoom. Pan / Zoom run transparently while a command is active ('PAN,
'ZOOM …): navigation modes leave the command untouched and an interactive
ZOOM Window parks it and resumes it afterwards. Rows carry an icon gutter
so labels align; the Enter row shows a default value ("<0.5000>") as its
hint instead of a second finish row.
ARC gets the commercial solutions' prompt flow with all keywords: start [Center], second
point [Center/End], end; after Center: end [Angle/chord Length]; after
End: center [Angle/Direction/Radius]; Enter continues tangent. The
previous default (Center/Start/End with method codes) stays as ARC_CSE.
Object snaps gain a one-shot "None" override. New strings in all locales.

The viewport context menu is now built from a pure model
(ui::popup::context_menu) rendered by the overlay: while a command runs it
offers Enter / Cancel / every keyword of the command's options() with the
keyword shown as a hint, a Recent Input submenu and M2P; when idle it offers
Repeat, Recent Input, Clipboard, Undo/Redo with history labels, the edit
block (Erase/Move/Copy/Scale/Rotate/Mirror/Draw Order), Isolate, Pan/Zoom,
selection tools, Properties and Options. The default row is anchored under
the pointer and the menu is keyboard-navigable (arrows, Enter, mnemonic
letters; any other key closes it and types into the command line).
Right-click behaviour is a user preference (Options → User Preferences,
SHORTCUTMENU / SHORTCUTMENUDURATION): shortcut menu (commercial solutions default),
time-sensitive, or the previous Enter-first cycle.
LINE gains options() (Close/Undo/eXit).

Show the styled dimension and its value while placing a dimension, using
the same builder the command commits with. Each creation command
(DIMLINEAR, DIMALIGNED, DIMANGULAR, DIMRADIUS, DIMDIAMETER, DIMARC,
DIMJOGGED, DIMORDINATE, DIMCONTINUE, DIMBASELINE, QDIM) reports the
dimensions it would commit at the current stage through
`CadCommand::dimension_preview`. The application applies the current
creation style, or the base dimension's style for DIMCONTINUEMODE=1,
and the same viewport measurement scale as commit, then tessellates the
transient entity through the normal dimension renderer.
While the second definition point is being acquired, a hovered model
snap supplies a provisional viewport scale; once both points are fixed,
hovering another viewport does not change the value. Angular dimensions
never receive length compensation. Degenerate geometry, an invalid
scale, or conflicting viewports fall back to the plain rubber-band
preview so no misleading value is shown.
Grid snap locks to SNAPUNIT instead of magnetizing; snapped 3D points keep elevation instead of flattening to z=0. New SnapTypes Vertex/EdgeMidpoint/FaceCenter/Knot/FacePerpendicular/NearestFace with their own F4 master toggle and mode set, tiers, and markers, fully independent of the 2D master. Solid B-rep corners/edge-midpoints/face-centers from mesh edges and kernel faces, spline knot points, and live perpendicular/nearest-to-face on mesh triangles merged priority-aware in move/click paths. Drafting Settings 3D Object Snap tab is fully live (was dead placeholders); Nearest-to-face off by default. TDD: behavioral LINE-to-solid tests plus engine/scene unit tests.
AutoCAD stores a layout's sheet as the plotter driver's canonical media
name (`ISO_A4_(210.00_x_297.00_MM)`, `ANSI_full_bleed_B_(11.00_x_17.00_Inches)`),
so a drawing saved here has to carry the same spelling for AutoCAD to find
the sheet in its DWG To PDF list, and a name that arrives from AutoCAD must
resolve to its dimensions and go back out untouched.
- New `io::paper_catalog` replaces the eight-entry `paper_sizes`: ISO A/B,
ANSI, ARCH (incl. E1) and JIS series with full-bleed / expand variants,
Letter / Legal / Tabloid, millimetre and inch units, a parser that
reconstructs any well-formed AutoCAD name (custom or driver-specific)
from its embedded dimensions, driver / legacy-config aliases (`A4`,
`Letter`, `Ledger`), and dimension matching that prefers the plain sheet.
- The Plot dialog stores the canonical name and shows the sheet as
`ISO A4 (210 × 297 mm)`; a sheet that only exists in the drawing is
listed first so it stays selectable.
- A sheet the user did not change keeps the drawing's own media name
(`paper_name_for_settings`), so a Windows printer's `A4` is not rewritten
to `ISO_A4_(…)` just by passing through the dialog.
- Drops the unused `PlotFormat` / `PlotOrientation` messages,
`paper_label_from_dims`, and three duplicated `match "A4" | …` tables.
Tests: catalogue spelling, parser round-trip, aliases, dimension matching,
display formatting, plus dialog ↔ layout round-trips for driver-named,
catalogue and unknown sheets.

Drafting Settings dialog gets text inputs for Snap X/Y spacing plus a working Equal X and Y checkbox (mirrored inputs, Y follows X on apply). Snapper gains fixed snap_spacing_x/y (persisted in UserSettings, default 10) decoupled from the adaptive visible-grid step. Grid snap no longer aperture-gated: with Snap On it rounds every point to the grid, object snaps still override by tier. Adds parse/lock regression tests.
- IMAGEEMBED: pack raster images into OLE2FRAME entities so a .dwg is
self-contained; 'Embed Image' entry in the XREF attach menu; control/MCP
op embed_image for external tools; dxf_name for OLE2FRAME queries.
- Scene: populate_images_from_document now rebuilds OLE2FRAME and PDF
underlay models too (they used to vanish after any XREF op).
- Printing: add PRINTER_ENUM_NETWORK pass when listing printers; GDI
spooler fallback (hayro raster at 300 DPI + StretchDIBits) for hosts
whose PDF handler registers no print verb; DEVMODE orientation with a
90-degree raster rotation fallback for v4 drivers; fix the fit-scale
precedence bug that printed blank pages.
- PDF export dialogs on Windows use the async file dialog so the native
overwrite confirmation no longer deadlocks the UI thread.
- Plot dialog: persist the chosen printer (saved on selection) and the
picked plot window across sessions; page setups with no device no
longer reset the output device.
- Community fonts: detect unresolvable .shx references on open and offer
a download from the repository's fonts/ folder (contribution guide in
fonts/README.md); custom font source URL setting for intranet font
servers; downloaded fonts resolve from the per-user fonts directory.
Port press-to-capture dialog safeguards to the alias editor: transient top draft row with explicit accept, duplicate-alias and unknown-command danger styling plus persistent banners, reset-to-defaults with inline confirmation, Apply and Apply-and-Exit, alias count, Esc-cancels-draft-first, and unsaved-changes guard on close.
Refresh associations after complete SpaceMouse camera updates and recognize imported paper-space owners without Layout objects. Use kernel containment, intersection, perpendicular and spline tangent solving; pin cadkernel 7ce27f2 and add regressions.
Row menu Select New Path and Find and Replace now act on the right-clicked row via dedicated XrefRowPathPick / XrefRowFindReplacePrompt messages (prefill + command-line focus, XOPEN output included). Rows use a RightClickArea wrapper so right-click selects the row even though ContextMenu captures the press, and opening or acting on the menu resets the Change Path Type flyout state.
The Change Path Type row shows a right-triangle affordance and reveals the Make Absolute / Make Relative / Remove Path submenu beside it. The flyout opens on hover only and a shared submenu-row style removes dead code from the earlier iterations.
Right-click actions bound to the row under the cursor, split-button toolbar groups with shared borders and hover states, and a notice when an operation needs a selection first.
Removes PR2's two seams now that PR1 (viewport snapping) is underneath.
* `Scene::viewport_frame` is PR1's camera-derived implementation. The
viewport-record version is gone; PR1's returns `None` for oblique /
perspective viewports, which is what we want — every entry point in
`viewport_dim_seam` then declines rather than guessing a planar
mapping. `viewport_dim_seam` is now just the dimension object-pick
path, and its module doc says so.
* There is one accepted-snap store: PR1's `OpenCADStudio::accepted_snaps`.
PR2's parallel `dim_accepted_snaps` (and its command-name ownership
tracking, which PR1's clear-on-command-start/end already does) is
deleted, along with the `record_dimension_accepted_snap` seam.
`accepted_snap_for_point` reads PR1's list.
Two things layer on top:
- the explicit object pick is not a point step, so it still records its
own snaps, now through `push_accepted_snap` into PR1's list, and now
carrying the picked entity handle + block path as a `SnapSourceRef`
so PR3 can associate it;
- a typed coordinate carries no snap, so `measure_snap` re-attaches the
content viewport under a snap that is free *and* source-less. That
keeps `DIMLINEAR` with typed coordinates inside a 1:10 viewport
measuring the model, without ever reinterpreting a real paper-sheet
snap that happens to sit over a viewport.
* One association gate, not two. `dimension_association_allowed` is the
single predicate, derived from the same `dimension_measure_space`
classification that decides whether to compensate the measurement, so
the two can never disagree. `infer_dimension_sources_guarded` delegates
to it, and the commit path's "commit unassociated when measured through
a viewport" condition is now that predicate rather than a second,
independently-computed bool. It also covers the explicit-pick and
explicit-source-list branches, which the old inference-only guard did
not. Because the classification ignores the trailing dimension-line
placement click, an ordinary paper dimension whose placement click lands
inside a viewport rectangle keeps its association.

DIMLINEAR / DIMALIGNED / DIMRADIUS / DIMDIAMETER / DIMANGULAR created on a
sheet now report the model measurement of the geometry seen through a
viewport, at any viewport scale, while definition points, the dimension line
and the text stay in paper coordinates and the annotation keeps its sheet
size (DIMSCALE is untouched).
A viewport frame is a similarity - uniform scale plus in-plane twist - so
projecting the model span onto the paper axis and compensating gives exactly
the raw paper measurement times 1/scale. No geometry is rewritten: the
compensation is persisted once as a negative DIMLFAC override on the
dimension and applied once by the linear formatter, so preview text,
dimension text, the properties measurement row and DXF/DWG export all agree.
User measurement multipliers fold into the same magnitude, and an explicit
text override still bypasses formatting entirely, so it is never re-scaled.
Angular dimensions are never compensated - a similarity preserves angles.
Mixed input (one point through viewport A, another through viewport B or on
the sheet) is refused rather than silently mis-measured: the command line
explains why and the dimension falls back to plain paper measurement.
A dimension measured through a viewport is left unassociated: its definition
points are projected paper coordinates, so inferring a paper-space
association would bind it to geometry that is not there. PR3 records the real
dimension -> viewport -> entity chain.
The result is one ordinary dimension entity carrying one style override, so
undo/redo works through the existing history with no new out-of-document
state.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <[email protected]>
Point input now keeps an `AcceptedSnap` alongside each point a command
collects: the paper point, the model point it came from, the viewport and
frame it was seen through, and the geometry identity the snap engine
attributed. Interactive picks record in the click handler, typed / dynamic /
headless points record in `feed_command`, and the list is cleared whenever a
command starts or the active space changes. Commands that don't care keep
consuming the plain paper point unchanged; PR2 reads the model point and
frame, PR3 the source.
Dimension association inference is suppressed when the dimension's points came
through a viewport. Inference matches geometry against the dimension's own
definition points in whatever space it is handed, so paper definition points
projected from a viewport would associate with unrelated paper-sheet geometry
at those coordinates, or match model geometry using paper coordinates. An
empty source list makes `attach_dimension_association` a no-op. PR3 replaces
this with real viewport-aware associations.
