Add the no-selection Block section with annotation, orientation, scaling, exploding, units, description and hyperlink controls. Integrate definition edits with editor history, save checkpoints and discard, and keep staged text tied to its definition.
Persist annotation and hyperlink metadata on the block record, migrate legacy marker values on edit, and honor orientation and hyperlink descriptions during block creation. Cover native DWG/DXF roundtrips and replacement after reopening.
With dynamic UCS on (UCSDETECT 1, toggled with F6), a command's first
point picked on a planar face of a solid sets the UCS to that face for
the rest of the command, so 2D commands draw on the face (#1711). An
unsnapped first point lands on the face itself; a snapped point off the
face's plane belongs to other geometry and leaves the UCS alone. The
previous UCS comes back when the command ends. UCS commands themselves
are left out.

Annotative text in DWG/DXF holds the model height of its default
(native) scale representation; other scales draw it at the ratio of the
two. OCS read the stored value as paper height and multiplied it by the
annotation scale again, so text from AutoCAD came out far too small
(#1734), and annotative text OCS wrote came out too small in AutoCAD.
- Rendering uses the active/native context ratio (1 when the object has
no representation for the displayed scale).
- TEXT with an annotative style asks for the paper height, stores the
model height of the creation scale and gets that context; MTEXT
starts from the model height; ANNOUPDATE converts a fixed style
height the same way.
- Properties: the Height row of annotative TEXT and MTEXT is the paper
height at the displayed scale, with the model height beside it, and
an edit converts back. MTEXT shows Annotative when it has contexts.

A dynamic dimension is drawn by its constraint at screen size; without
the constraint it is a bare dimension with stretched extension lines.
Those orphans now stay undrawn and unplotted, as in a viewer (#992).
- First-release drawings keep dynamic dimensions on
*LayerNameForDynamicConstraint; it counts as the dynamic layer.
- The hidden set is refreshed when constraints load, and the loader's
prepared wires (built before that) are not installed while it holds
anything.

With nothing selected, Shift+MMB orbit pivoted on the surface at the
view centre, so grabbing a small part off-centre flung the model away.
It now pivots on the solid or mesh surface under the pointer where the
drag began, falling back to the view centre and then the camera target
(#1389).

An annotative dimension style still stores a DIMSCALE (100 in ACA
templates), but its features are sized by the annotation scale. Using
the stored value drew 3 mm dimension text 300 units tall, burying the
plan under giant digits.
Some templates also store their ratio scales already converted to the
drawing unit (a metre drawing's "1:50" as 1 paper = 0.05 drawing, with
CANNOSCALEVALUE 20). Applying the INSUNITS conversion on top shrank
the annotation multiplier a thousandfold.

The resident wire sets were capped at 16 and cleared once more were
held. A layout with more content viewports than that (24 in the report)
cleared them all on each redraw and re-tessellated the model for every
viewport, so the layout stayed sluggish even when nothing changed. The
cap now covers the shown layout's viewports: idle redraws build no
wires, and a frame of that layout draws in ~14 ms instead of ~30 ms
plus ~100 ms of rebuilds.
The automation bridge gains a `layout_switch` action, as clicking a
layout tab does, which is how this was measured.

Reference-only entities (plugin API v9): a scene-scoped, in-memory
designation for plugin-owned display geometry, plus HostNotification
dispatch to native plugins so they can re-mark on DocumentOpened.
Resolves the new DeltaSnapshot site in block_editor.rs.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <[email protected]>
Per the upstream review of the XDATA-based storage: the host no longer writes
its own state into the saved file. The marker record under the host-owned OCS
APPID, the on-first-use APPID registration and the verbatim-EED rewrite
handling are removed; the single source of truth is a scene-scoped in-memory
set of entity handles (Scene::reference_only) that dies with the drawing tab,
so a reopened file starts undesignated and the owning plugin re-marks on the
document-opened notification.
All behaviour sites are unchanged, driven by the set: the wire stamp moves
from an XDATA read to a set lookup threaded through the tessellation
pipelines (tessellate_entity and the dimension text path take the handle set
as a plain parameter), and the pick filters, selection retains and
update/erase refusals read Scene::is_reference_only.
Undo keeps the entity-write contract: set mutations are recorded as explicit
first-touch before/after values on each history delta (the parametric-
constraints channel pattern). A designation inside a plugin push_undo scope
joins it, a scope-less change is one step of its own, an idempotent re-mark
records nothing, erasing a designated entity drops the set entry with the
entity, and undo/redo restores entity and designation together.
The round-trip test is inverted: reference_only_designation_is_not_written_
to_dwg_or_dxf now asserts the marker appears in neither format's bytes, that
no OCS APPID or marker record survives a reload, and that the designation
stays live in memory.
A save records the entered model viewport (or the sheet) as the layout's
last active viewport, and opening the layout enters it again with its
UCS. Picks up the codec fix that kept a last-active link from being read
as the sheet viewport (codec d57097c, kernel b40fa59, graph 2360341).

During in-place reference editing everything outside the working set
fades by XFADECTL. A DWF underlay's page now stays as it is, like a
raster image or a PDF page, and only its frame fades; a DGN underlay's
content keeps fading with the rest.

In the Block Editor, BVSTATE makes a new visibility state, makes one
current, renames or deletes one; BVHIDE and BVSHOW hide or show the
picked objects in the current state (BVSHOW shows every object of the
block while they are picked). The first use makes the block dynamic.
The states are stored as the format keeps them: a
BLOCKVISIBILITYPARAMETER in the block's ACAD_ENHANCEDBLOCK evaluation
graph with its visibility grip and the grip's two location expressions,
the round-trip purge preventer, AcDbDynamicBlockTrueName /
AcDbDynamicBlockGUID / AcDbBlockRepETag on the definition and element
tags on each of its objects. The definition shows its first state; a
reference given another state gets its own evaluated *U copy, tagged
AcDbBlockRepBTag and linked back through AcDbBlockRepresentation /
AcDbRepData, so it shows that state and the other references do not
change. Saving the block drops erased objects from the states.
Checked: a block authored this way reads back with its states and
reference link from DWG and DXF, and the ODA converter accepts the DWG.

add_layout took the sheet viewport out, so the first viewport added to
the layout afterwards (by automation, or a plugin) was read as the sheet
and the scale pill and paper camera followed it. The sheet now stays and
is fitted to the page when the layout first opens; a layout saved before
that is still written without viewports.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <[email protected]>
Opening a layout whose page setup was never filled in took every viewport
out of it, including viewports onto the model a file carries (plenty of
DXF writers leave the paper fields empty). With only the sheet taken out
instead, the next viewport would have been read as the sheet. The sheet
is now fitted to the new page and every other viewport stays.
A layout saved as never opened keeps its state when it already holds a
viewport onto the model (one added by automation), and only its sheet is
taken out otherwise.

Ctrl+click on a polyline selects the segment under the cursor (again to
drop it); several segments can be picked. Only the picked segments are
highlighted, and MOVE, ROTATE, SCALE and MIRROR then change just their
vertices, so the neighbouring segments stretch to follow. Any other
selected objects are transformed whole as before.

SECTIONCULL keeps only what the selected section object (or the live
section of the space) shows: solids, surfaces and closed meshes are cut
to it with the same planes the live section uses, open meshes are
clipped face by face, and every other object wholly outside it is
erased. Objects across the boundary that cannot be cut stay whole. One
undo step.
The section's bounding planes are gathered once (section_planes) and
shared by the live section and the cull.

COMPARE picks a drawing (or takes its path) and matches its objects with
this drawing's by what they draw: type, layer and tessellated geometry,
so an unchanged copy matches whatever its handle. Objects only here are
outlined in green, objects only in the other drawing in red, over the
current drawing, and Next / Previous zoom from one difference to the
next with a count in the prompt. A moved or edited object shows as one
of each. eXit (or Esc) clears the overlay.

An associative array is an AcDbAssocAction with an
AcDbAssocArrayActionBody, dependencies on the array INSERT, the block
holding the item references and the block holding the source objects,
and value parameters (Items, ItemSpacing, Rows, …). Selecting the array
INSERT now shows its counts and spacings in Properties; changing one
places the items again and rewrites the item references, the body's
item records and the parameter values together, in one undo step, so
the drawing stays associative when saved.
Rectangular arrays follow their RowProfile axis, AxesAngle and base
normal; polar arrays turn about the centre recovered from their first
item, Radius and StartAngle. Both match the stored items of the
associative arrays in the sample drawings (122 of 123 rectangular, all
polar items of the polar samples). Path arrays are shown read-only.

A section volume now shows grips on its top and bottom faces, so its
height is pushed and pulled in place like its sides, not only through
the Properties palette. Live sectioning also cuts MESH, polygon mesh and
polyface mesh objects that close a volume, drawing each as the capped
solid it bounds in every visual style.

In model space MVSETUP draws the sheet border at the drawing scale
(scale factor, paper width and height) and zooms to it, or switches to
a layout. On a layout it creates viewports in a bounding area (a single
one, a 2x2 engineering set of top/front/right/isometric views, or an
array with spacing), deletes picked objects, and scales picked
viewports to a paper/model unit ratio.
A viewport's fit to the model now measures the model along the
viewport's own view direction, so side and isometric views frame it
too.

Every further reference to an already expanded block (a translated copy
of the same definition, at the top level or nested) was materialised as
a full copy of every wire, although the GPU already draws those copies
from one shared source with a per-copy offset. Such a copy is now a
single stub wire holding the shared prototype and its offset (stubs nest
inside prototypes, so nested repeats collapse too).
- The block renderer expands stubs into instance references while it
groups by source, so drawing is unchanged.
- Interaction queries expand only the stubs near the query, so snapping,
picking, window and crossing selection see each copy's geometry.
- Plot, boundary detection, viewport projection and entity_wires() get
fully expanded wires; count and reference-edit recolouring expand the
set while they are active.
- OCS_NO_BLOCK_STUBS turns it off.
A drawing with 480 references to a block of 100 nested 50-line blocks
(2.4M lines) now opens with 11k wires instead of 2.4M: peak memory
5.4 GB -> 0.37 GB, wire assembly 2.4 s -> 36 ms, interaction index
3.7 s -> 23 ms. The viewport, a plotted PDF, snaps and selections are
identical with and without stubs, and on five real drawings the view
renders the same.

Host side of HostApi::set_reference_only: plugin-owned display geometry that
renders and snaps normally but must not be edited or picked by the person at
the screen, while the owning plugin keeps full write access through the host.
- Storage: a human-readable marker value in an XDATA record under the
host-owned OCS APPID (registered on first use; foreign values survive
verbatim; stale verbatim DWG EED is dropped on rewrite), so the flag
round-trips DWG and DXF with the entity and cannot collide with plugin
APPID namespaces.
- Grips: refresh_selected_grips yields none for a reference-only entity and
an active grip edit on a newly designated target is cancelled like a
locked-layer one.
- Picking: a reference-only wire flag extends the snap_only skips in every
hit test, so a click passes through to the editable entity underneath, and
box, window, lasso, fence and select-all gathers skip the designation;
fills, solids and instanced meshes are excluded through the shared
candidate handle set.
- Write policy: built-in user paths treat a reference-only entity like a
locked-layer one (Scene::update_entity / update_entities refuse,
erase_entities skips), while the plugin-owned variants
(update_entity_plugin / erase_entities_plugin, mirroring the
remove_entities editor split) and the whole HostSession surface write
through. The MCP entities read exposes a top-level reference_only boolean
and set_properties refuses with the reference_only failure code.
- Undo: the entity-write contract - a change joins a plugin-opened push_undo
scope, a scope-less change is one undo step of its own, refusals and
idempotent re-marks record nothing.
- Known limit: entities nested inside block instances (the block cache
rebuilds instance wires without the flag).

The resident tessellation memo held its own copy of every entity's wires
next to the assembled resident set. Runs now stay only in the set: a memo
entry whose wires the set holds just marks them valid (InSet) and reads
them back through a weak link with the set's layout ranges, so the set
remains uniquely owned for in-place patches. A resident build moves new
tessellations straight into the set (Pending until it is bound); hidden
entities copy their run out before the patch blanks it, and an abandoned
patch hands its half-taken set back for the full build that follows.
Builds whose runs are recoloured afterwards (reference edit, count) keep
owned copies as before.
On a drawing with 2.4M nested block lines: wire assembly 3.7s -> 2.3s,
memory after it 4.6 GB -> 3.8 GB.

- A layout opens for the first time when its page setup was never
initialized (no paper size, no media name) or it was created in this
session; its page setup is initialized then, and with
LAYOUTCREATEVIEWPORT it gets its first viewport. A layout never opened
is saved with an uninitialized page setup and no viewports, so it gets
its viewport when the file is opened again, here or in the reference.
- Select Viewport for view: a viewport is selected when the pick box
(PICKBOX pixels at the sheet's zoom) touches its frame; a pick well
inside or outside selects nothing and the prompt repeats.

A layout opened for the first time - one whose sheet viewport had to be
made, or one created in this session - gets a viewport centred on the
printable area, 0.8 of its width and height, zoomed to the model's
extents, while LAYOUTCREATEVIEWPORT is on. The profile variable takes
ON/OFF or 1/0 and is kept with the settings.

A new drawing is metric with metre insertion units, but its annotation
multiplier stayed at Scene::new()'s unitless 1 while opened files and
CANNOSCALE convert paper millimetres into drawing units (0.001 at 1:1).
Annotative text and dimensions were drawn 1000x too large until the
first scale change, then shrank to their real size and looked gone,
also after switching back to 1:1.
One helper now derives the multiplier from the header; new drawings,
file open and every INSUNITS change (UNITS, the units popup, DWGUNITS,
SETVAR) go through it.

- Gradients: the middle colour sits (horizon - 0.5) viewport widths from the
centre and blends over height viewport heights each side; two colours
blend over a viewport height each side.
- Image backgrounds: offset in device pixels (right, down), negative scale
mirrors, fitted with aspect ratio covers the viewport; the dialog keeps an
image's offset and scale.
- Layouts: a model-space view restored on a sheet asks for the viewport,
enters it and gives it the view's camera, background and visual style;
inside a viewport the view goes there; a paper-space view's background is
kept on the sheet viewport but not drawn; floating viewports draw their
background.
- Background objects no view or viewport uses any more are erased; a view
without a background restored where the viewport already is leaves the
viewport's background.
- The viewport's named visual style (Realistic, ...) shows by name and the
render-mode picker records its style on the viewport record.

dialog (None / Solid / Gradient / Image, preview, solid colour, two- or

it (or none), and saving a view copies the viewport's background.

new src/scene/block_service.rs (references, delete, rename, purge candidates, name validation, one error type and message). The command-line RENAME, palette Remove, plugin API, control/MCP block_delete and PURGE all use it. Layout, xref, dynamic-block, anonymous and open-in-editor records are protected; PURGE removes an anonymous block only when nothing references it. PROTOCOL CHANGE: control/MCP block_delete refuses a referenced block unless force=true (erases referencing INSERTs in one undo step). New REST route DELETE /api/v1/blocks/{name}?force=true. MCP tool digest re-pinned. Undo labels are Delete block X, Rename block X to Y and Purge.
world = insert_point + Rot * Scale * (P - base_point). Attribute placement, EXPLODE, XCLIP storage, REFEDIT's working copy, the UCS reframe of attributes and the dynamic-block visibility grip ignored the base point and were offset by Rot*Scale*base. They now share insert_transform_with_base. Creation stores a ZERO base and redefine resets it; a no-op redefine moves nothing; the Block Definition dialog prefills the base from the definition. XCLIP filters stored by older builds keep their old displacement.

The pill number used the first-content fallback while the label and sync badge used explicit-only resolution, showing e.g. a 1:50 number beside a 1:1 label with no badge. Label and badge now resolve through target_viewport_handle like the number; render-path handle fn, set-paths and Model branches untouched. Tests: scale_pill_sources_agree_without_targeted_viewport (RED: live probe Some(0.02)/1:1/None) plus Model-unchanged pin. Full suite: 2027 passed / 0 failed / 25 ignored.
SURFACEASSOCIATIVITY now keeps EXTRUDE, REVOLVE and LOFT surfaces linked to
their sources: the profile (and axis object) or cross sections are kept, the
surface is made again when they change, and the drawing's associative
network carries an action with the extruded, revolved or lofted surface
action body, its path parameters and value parameters as the reference
writes them. Swept, extruded, revolved and lofted surfaces can read
splines (NURBS edge curve, fit-point splines through their fit points)
and ellipses (elliptical edge curve). Associative surfaces of a file
opened here follow their sources too.
