Hakan Seven 2ebad14586 fix(web): capture save previews from the browser canvas
Capture the rendered canvas during the clean frame instead of requesting synchronous GPU buffer readback. Preserve embedded previews and allow saving when canvas readback is denied. Add a browser save and reopen regression check.

Sebastian ed3e064a47 feat(plugins): include rustc version in plugin compatibility gate
OpenCADStudio/plugins#901

- Record the host's rustc --version output in the embedded version_info.json.
- Add rustc_version/rustc_declared/rustc_compatible to plugin manifests and
release metadata, mirroring the existing acadrust gate.
- Reject API v4+ plugins whose declared rustc differs from the host, with a
  clear one-line error message.
- Propagate the rustc gate through the marketplace, install flow, and UI.
- Update plugin architecture docs to describe the new ABI metadata.

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 5 273f482aee refactor: retire the solid3d feature — the web build gets solids too
The feature existed for one reason: truck's mesh and boolean crates reach
`vtkio → xz2 → lzma-sys`, a C library that cannot cross-compile to wasm32. So
the web build dropped it, and with it the Model tab, solid tessellation and
ACIS import — all of which quietly did nothing in the browser.

cadkernel is pure Rust and has no C dependency, so none of that holds any
more. The feature gated exactly two things by the end, `acis_export` and the
save-path sync that calls it, and both are as portable as everything around
them. Removing it means the web build makes primitives, runs booleans, draws
ACIS solids read from a file, and writes them back out as exact geometry — the
same as the desktop build.

Verified against all three: native, `--no-default-features`, and an actual
`wasm32-unknown-unknown` check rather than an assumption about one.

The docs claimed otherwise in four places and are corrected. `tessellation.md`
in particular was organised around whether an entity "goes through truck",
which is no longer a question anything can be asked — the three paths are now
a kernel B-rep mesh, a curve sampled through `entities::curve`, or geometry
emitted directly, and the per-entity table is updated to match.

`index.html` no longer passes `data-cargo-no-default-features`; there are no
features left to turn off.

Karim Jerbi 73b05e1dec perf(core): cache ribbon_groups() with OnceLock, avoid per-frame tree allocations
Change CadModule::ribbon_groups() from -> Vec<RibbonGroup> to -> &[RibbonGroup],
backed by a per-module OnceLock cache. The ribbon group tree is static data
(&'static str, Copy enums) that was being fully reconstructed — Vecs, String
clones, enum discriminants — on every call, including all three per-frame
call sites (view(), dropdown_overlay(), style_combo_overlay()).

- 7 built-in modules + 2 plugin templates cache via function-local OnceLock.
Safe because each is a unit struct with exactly one instance per process
(plugins run in isolated child processes; see PluginProcess::spawn()).
- SharedCadModule avoids the static pattern entirely, storing groups in an
  instance field (owned.rs).
- IPC runner converts &RibbonGroup -> OwnedRibbonGroup directly via new
From<&T> impls, avoiding an intermediate clone.
- render_small/render_large and the two make_tool_row closures now borrow
(&RibbonItem, &[ToolDef]) instead of taking ownership, so the view loop
doesn't need to clone items to satisfy the old by-value signatures.
- Various match-ergonomics deref fixes (*id, *default, *icon, etc.) from
  the &RibbonItem pattern change.

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 4.8 a994a148fe perf(render): batch solid meshes, fix per-pick freezes on heavy 3D models
Opening / navigating a heavy 3D DWG (e.g. a BIM model with ~10k ACIS solids)
was effectively frozen. Several independent costs, all addressed here:

- Face3D edge/fill buffers were re-uploaded on every camera move (keyed on
camera_generation). They are world-space and selection-independent, so gate
  them on (geometry_epoch, fill_mode) instead — a pan no longer re-walks every
  wire.
- Solid meshes were drawn one buffer + one draw call per solid (~10k draws/
frame), which strangled the GPU front end. Concatenate every solid's LOD0
into a few large buffers (split only to stay under the 256 MB buffer cap) and
draw the whole set in a handful of calls. Built once per geometry epoch, so
selection / hover never re-pack it.
- Selection / hover highlight is now a small tinted overlay of just the picked
solids, drawn last with an Always-depth pipeline so it shows on top even when
the solid is occluded — instead of re-tinting and re-uploading all meshes.
- Hover / pick hit-testing scanned every triangle of every solid each move
(seconds on a heavy model). Add a 3D-AABB screen-rect broad phase
(MeshLodSet now carries z_aabb) and reuse the renderer's cached expanded mesh
set, so picking is O(solids) cheap projections plus the few solids actually
  under the cursor.
- Block-internal hatch hit-testing exploded every INSERT on every hover.
Cache the result per geometry epoch and skip blocks that contain no hatch.
- Curved-surface (cone/sphere/torus) tessellation tolerance is now radius-
relative (CURVE_REL_TOL) so a cylinder's facet count is size-independent and
matches the circle/arc wire tessellation, instead of exploding on large radii.

Also adds docs/tessellation.md mapping every EntityType to its tessellation
path (truck B-rep vs truck curve topology vs direct).

Design note for a future migration: motivation, blockers (single-shader

plan starting with a shader-per-pane spike, and the note that pane_grid

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 4.8 8bae517eec feat(automation): local TCP socket transport for --serve
OpenCADStudio --serve --port <N> listens on 127.0.0.1:<N> and serves the
same line-based JSON protocol over the socket (one client at a time; the
document session persists across reconnects), as an alternative to
stdin/stdout. ocs.py grows a port= option to connect either way.

of Line/Circle/Arc/Point). Add layers op (name, ACI/RGB colour, on/off,
frozen, locked + current layer) and header op (units, PDMODE/PDSIZE,
LTSCALE, annotation scale, current layer/text style). ocs.py gains
layers()/header(). Lets an agent read the drawing's structure and
settings, not just entity counts.

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 4.8 707c143212 feat(plugin): object-pick acquisition for interactive commands
Extend InteractiveCommand with needs_object_pick / on_object_pick so a
plugin tool can prompt the user to pick an existing entity (handle + point)
rather than a free point — the structure-pick path Storm Sewer's SS_PIPE
needs to connect existing structures. The host adapter delegates to the
internal entity-pick flow; over --serve the pick is fed as a hex handle.
Stays API v2 (no released plugin implements InteractiveCommand yet).

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 4.8 931eb908a9 feat(plugin): InteractiveCommand hook for click-to-place (API v2)
Plugins could dispatch commands but not register interactive (click-to-
place) tools — the gap mf4633 flagged on #100 for Storm Sewer's SS_INLET
/ SS_PIPE. Add an InteractiveCommand trait + CommandStep to ocs_plugin_api
and HostApi::start_interactive; a host adapter bridges it to the internal
CadCommand, so a plugin tool drives the host's point-collection flow.

Hybrid by construction: the same command works by clicking in the viewport
AND by feeding coordinates over --serve (run "CMD x,y x,y"). Adding a
HostApi method changes the contract vtable, so API_VERSION bumps to 2 —
v1 plugin binaries are now refused at load.

Part of the #100 extensibility epic.

Add undo and redo ops to the headless server (synchronous via update()).
Combined with select, the modify commands MOVE/COPY work through the
existing dispatcher — "select type=Line" then run("MOVE 0,0 10,0")
translates the selection. ocs.py gains undo()/redo().

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 4.8 f1a59b1094 feat(automation): drive draw commands headless with coordinate args
run now feeds coordinate tokens to interactive tools: "LINE 0,0 10,10"
starts the tool, feeds the points, and terminates as if Enter were
pressed — creating real geometry through the existing command system. The
headless session also leaves the welcome (Start) tab so drawing commands
aren'\''t blocked. Verified end-to-end: LINE/CIRCLE create entities that
save and reopen.

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 4.8 7f10b69e3c feat(automation): headless JSON server (--serve) + Python client
Add an external automation API (issue #29 / #100 track 2): `OpenCADStudio
--serve` runs without a GUI and is driven over a line-based JSON protocol
on stdin/stdout — open / new / run / entities / save. State persists
across requests so a script or AI agent can act, observe, and act again.

`run` drives the app's existing command system rather than a separate
binding, so coverage grows with the app; synchronous commands apply now,
pick-based interactive ones come once coordinate feeding is wired. Ships
a ~100-line example ocs.py client over the same protocol — no FFI to
maintain. Headless works because the app already constructs and dispatches
GUI-less in tests.

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 4.8 1175675c5e docs(plugin): rewrite architecture + template for the external-only model
OpenCADStudio ships no built-in plugins, so the spec and scaffold no
longer describe the in-tree inventory path, demo_plugin, or the fictional
Storm Sewer reference. The architecture doc now covers the external cdylib
model end to end (ocs_plugin_api contract, export_plugin!, building +
publishing per-platform releases, runtime loading, the marketplace +
curated registry, the approach-B ABI caveat). The template becomes a
standalone cdylib crate (Cargo.toml + src/lib.rs + release workflow)
instead of an in-tree module.

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 4.8 29c71be101 feat(plugin): load external cdylib plugins at runtime (phase 2)
Move BuiltinPlugin into ocs_plugin_api (host feature) so out-of-tree
crates can implement it, and add export_plugin! to emit the two C
symbols a cdylib exposes: ocs_plugin_api_version (checked first, so an
ABI-incompatible build never runs) and ocs_plugin_register -> boxed
BuiltinPlugin. The host loads every compatible package from the plugins
folder at startup via libloading (desktop only), keeps the library
resident for the session, and merges its ribbon tab + command dispatch
into the same paths as built-ins (honouring enable/disable). The Plugin
Manager shows external packages with a Loaded / incompatible status.

Approach B: the plugin hands back a boxed trait object, assuming a
matching toolchain + ocs_plugin_api version (the version symbol enforces
the latter). crates/ocs_example_plugin is the reference cdylib.

Part of the #100 extensibility epic (phase 2).

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 4.8 5ccf5cfe36 feat(plugin): lift host surface behind a HostApi trait (phase 1b)
Plugins targeted the host's concrete HostSession type. Add a HostApi
trait in ocs_plugin_api behind an optional `host` feature (the only thing
that pulls acadrust, so the core crate stays dependency-free). HostSession
implements it and BuiltinPlugin::dispatch now takes `&mut dyn HostApi`, so
an out-of-tree add-on compiles against the contract crate alone. Per-tab
plugin state is reached through object-safe plugin_state* helpers.

Completes the phase-1 host-surface extraction in the #100 epic.

Plugins persisted domain data via the raw acadrust::xdata API with
boilerplate and no APPID registration. Add read_record / write_record /
remove_record keyed by entity handle; write_record replaces an existing
record for the same app and registers the application in the APPID table
so the data round-trips through DWG/DXF for other CAD apps.

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 4.8 50825b6346 feat(plugin): ModuleEvent::PluginFileDialog for native file import
Add-ons had no way to request a file picker — only the host's own Open
dialog. PluginFileDialog lets a plugin tool ask the host to open a native
picker; on selection the host dispatches "<command> <path>" back to the
plugin with original case preserved (bypassing the command-line
upper-casing that mangles case-sensitive paths on Linux/macOS). The demo
plugin gains an Import tool exercising it.

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 4.8 72ec1146df refactor(plugin): extract ocs_plugin_api crate for the stable add-on contract
Move the dependency-free, semver-versioned half of the plugin contract into a
standalone workspace crate `crates/ocs_plugin_api`:

- manifest types: PluginManifest, ApiVersion, API_VERSION
- ribbon vocabulary: CadModule trait + ToolDef/RibbonGroup/RibbonItem/IconKind/
  ModuleEvent/StyleKey

The host re-exports them from `crate::plugin::manifest` and `crate::modules`, so
every existing call site is unchanged. The acadrust-typed runtime surface
(HostSession) stays in the host binary; lifting it behind a HostApi trait in the
same crate is the remaining phase-1b step.

Part of #100. Docs updated in docs/plugin-architecture.md.
