bherbruck a6bb8fc924 feat: stabilize face attachments and closed spline workflows 2026-10-11 05:32:46 -04:00
bherbruck fc8b71956c fix: reject planar joins that displace original faces 2026-10-10 22:53:44 -04:00
CypherNaugh_0x e575bded0e Fix construction-plane references in mirror, section, and sketches (#99)
Accept construction planes by name or feature ID, preserve parametric mirror references, and reject invalid plane inputs. Retain both mirror-plane and primitive-point regression test modules after resolving the conflict with main.

Validation: cargo xtask ci passed, including 282 engine tests, 138 UI tests, 62 UI scenarios, and WebAssembly.

CypherNaugh_0x c61b77613a solid.cylinder, box, sphere, torus and coil place by expressions: base, corner and center take numbers or length expressions per coordinate ("basin_width/2", "10 mm") and follow parameter changes, renames and component frames; before, a point that was not three plain numbers (or an unreadable axis) was silently replaced by the origin (or Z). The features now store the point as expressions (plain numbers still saved as numbers, so existing designs read and write the same) and evaluate it on every recompute; an unreadable or out-of-range point or axis is refused with an error. Tests: primitive points take expressions, follow parameters, renames and a moved component, and bad points are refused 2026-10-10 18:37:22 -04:00
bherbruckandClaude Opus 5.5 67c79ec91c Lips on rounded, shelled rims: the band along the rim's edge is raised from the body's own faces (kernel::raise_band: the rim face split along the band's exact offset edge, the band's walls swept up from the walls below, a top), since a join can't merge walls that continue each other; grooves cut with a band reaching into the free side so no wall coincides; tests against the band's area times its height
Fixes #29

bherbruckandClaude Opus 5.5 80f5a58806 Re-land the robustness batch on main (#6): fillets running into an earlier round go to blend_corner (any radius) instead of the same-radius undo; the lip and drilled-hole regression tests move into tests/robustness.rs with the new command ids; measuring 5000 faces is checked for its counts, its time in an ignored perf test run alone
Part of #6

bherbruckandClaude Opus 5.5 6ab39679e7 Rounding an edge that runs into an earlier round of the same radius (a box's edges filleted one at a time, the first tutorial): the earlier round is undone (its faces deleted and healed) and both edges rounded together, the same body as picking both at once; another radius says what to do instead of 'the faces at the edge ends must be planar'

bherbruckandClaude Opus 5.5 d7f9f0a516 Shell of rounded parts (the first tutorial): a round thinner than the shell collapses to a sharp inner edge (as in Fusion) instead of failing; when an open face's tangent round can't follow it out, every face moves in and the opening is the open face's copy swept out through the body; spindle tori (a bottom round running round a rounded corner) are taken by the offset; shells after a drilled hole; engine tests against the analytic volumes (box with rounded vertical edges and bottom loop, the tutorial plate at 2 mm and 1.5 mm)

bherbruckandClaude Opus 5.5 1bf377c14b No panics in the boolean's final assembly (the web build aborts on any panic: the Plastic Enclosure sample panicked 8 times and crashed the browser's start page); face pushes check their result and fall back to the general offset (a boss standing on a plate joins again with off-axis cylinder seams); offset errors name the face they can't move; docs/robustness.md with the before and after rates; caught panics counted per design in the robustness runs

bherbruckandClaude Opus 5.5 ccde7a4837 Robustness runs and the kernel fixes they found
- solvecraft-cli fuzz / fuzz-one: seeded random modelling sessions (boxes, extruded profiles with arcs, revolves; joins and cuts of boxes, cylinders and spheres, fillets, chamfers, shells, holes, patterns) on a grid that makes coincident faces and tangencies common, every step checked (command ok, every body a sound solid via the new Body::validity, volume moving the right way), plus the boolean volume identity on random primitives; one process per seed with a time limit; failures minimised to scripts
- shell/offset: corners where a curved face meets another at an angle are refined onto the moved surfaces (Newton); edges that are neither lines nor arcs are rebuilt through their moved points; one shell per piece; faces that would cross say so (not supported yet) instead of leaving a cavity inside out; flat revolved faces count as planes; the unhealed body is tried when the healed one fails
- cylinders start their seams at an odd angle (grid-aligned seams broke booleans along them)
- partial revolves of profiles touching the axis build no zero-area face on the axis
- booleans on bodies in several pieces retry a piece at a time
- regression tests for each, and a fixed set of seeds in cargo test

bherbruckandClaude Opus 5.5 d10312b7fd Command ids are SolveCraft's own: 173 ids that were another product's internal command ids become dotted, lower-case ids (<area>.<thing>[.<variant>]: solid.extrude, sketch.rectangle.two_point, sheet.flange, joint.drive, ...), in the registry, toolbar, dialogs, shortcuts, palette, control channel, MCP, examples, scenarios and docs
The old ids live only in crates/engine/src/legacy_ids.rs (the legacy migration table): find_command maps them, so old scripts, recipes and control calls keep working, and saved shortcuts, recent and pinned commands are migrated on load (designs store no command ids). Parity maps the observed catalog ids to ours through xtask/data/fusion-ids.tsv. The agent rule now reads: our own dotted id, never another product's. Cargo.toml's repository points at github.com/bherbruck/solvecraft.

bherbruckandClaude Opus 5.5 b8cd3d71e5 Regression test for components as frames (user bug #4, on 7a2eb05): a fillet picked in the world on a moved component with the root active, a sketch on a moved body's face, a body moved into a moved component keeping its place, and a fillet picked on a pasted instance; in its own test module
