- The acadrust DXF reader has converted ATTRIB/ATTDEF rotation to radians
since f226110 (in every codec rev OCS pinned from 2026-08-08 on), while
fix_dxf_dimension_rotations still applied to_radians a second time on
load. Only Shape needs the conversion here. Surfaced by #1391's hunk.
- Shape-file text styles are found by their is_shape_file flag instead of
an empty name (also from #1391).
- #1393's add_layer/modify_layer wrote an unresolved linetype name into
the LAYER record; a name the drawing (plus the standard set) cannot
supply is now refused, through one resolve_linetype helper.

`run_command_line` feeds the tokens after the command verb to the interactive
command and then terminates it as if Enter were pressed. Two gaps left a
headless caller unable to tell what actually happened.
In-place text editor takes over, remaining tokens were dropped
----------------------------------------------------------------
The `TEXT` content step hands over to the in-place editor, at which point the
command has already ended (`active_cmd` is `None`). The feed loop stopped
there, so the rest of the line — including the text itself — vanished:
`TEXT 0,0 5 0 hello` reported `completed` with `added: 0` and created nothing.
The tail is now typed into that editor and committed, and the commit is done
synchronously so its result is observable: `text_inline_commit()` returning
false leaves the tokens in `unconsumed` instead of reporting a successful line.
Dispatch the commit as a queued message instead and a failed commit would look
exactly like a good one — the text dropped, `added: 0`, `unconsumed: []`.
Only an editor this line opens is taken over, and after a successful commit the
line is closed with an escape: `TEXT` re-arms for the next line
(`open_next_line`), which would otherwise let the *next* batch line be eaten as
the next text position.
Leftover tokens are dropped
---------------------------
Any token no prompt ever asked for is recorded in `CommandLine::unconsumed` and
surfaced by the automation `run` response, so over-typed or misplaced input is
visible instead of silently ignored: `CIRCLE 0,0 5 9` reports
`"unconsumed": ["9"]` while a fully consumed line reports an empty list.
Pending surfaces are reported instead of `completed`
----------------------------------------------------
`run` now carries `blocked_by` — `"command"`, `"text_editor"`,
`"mtext_editor"`, `"modal:<Kind>"`, or `null` — and answers `waiting_input`
when something is still open rather than claiming `completed`.
`blocked_by` is attributed to the line that opened the surface: a condition and
its snapshot are taken before the command runs, so an editor left open by an
earlier line, another tab, or a startup dialog does not turn a finished command
into `waiting_input`. Without that attribution a caller polling for `completed`
would wait forever on someone else's editor. `docs/automation` documented
`waiting_input` as "more input is required", which is exactly what a pending
surface is; the two new fields are documented there as well.
Tests
-----
* `batch_text_line_creates_text_and_consumes_every_token` — the regression case
creates exactly one `Text` entity and leaves nothing unconsumed.
* `multi_word_text_keeps_the_spaces` — asserts the committed string, so an
off-by-one in the consumed index or a wrong join cannot pass.
* `run_reports_leftover_tokens_instead_of_dropping_them`.
* `text_without_content_reports_the_open_editor`.
* `a_stray_editor_is_not_hijacked_by_the_next_line` — the next line neither
types into the stray editor nor inherits its blocker (`blocked_by: null`,
`status: completed`).
* `a_command_still_waiting_is_named_as_the_blocker`.
Verified over the `--serve` protocol: `TEXT 0,0 5 0 hello world` → `completed`,
`added: 1`, and the entity really holds `hello world`; `TEXT 40,0 5 0` →
`waiting_input` + `blocked_by: "text_editor"`; the following `CIRCLE 0,0 5 9` →
`completed`, `blocked_by: null`, `unconsumed: ["9"]`; `LINE` → `waiting_input`
+ `blocked_by: "command"`.
Full lib suite: 1497 passed, 2 failed — both failures
(`io::plot_style::…named_tables_and_missing_files_get_a_reason`,
`scene::parametric_constraints::…arc_grips_drive_center_start_and_end_but_not_midpoint`)
reproduce on the unmodified tree; run with `LC_ALL=C` since several xref tests
otherwise fail on a non-English locale.
Known remaining gap, unchanged here: `MTEXT` / `HATCH` still answer `completed`
with `added: 0` in this path (they need interactive surfaces the feeder has no
tokens to fill). Reported separately in #1390.
CmdResult::Dispatch and CmdResult::Relaunch end the active command and run the
assembled line through dispatch_command, then discarded the Task it returned
(`let _ =`). A command whose effect is a message carried by that Task was
announced but never applied. VSCURRENT's keyword picker is one: choosing
"Gouraud Shaded" printed "Visual style: Gouraud Shaded." and left the
drawing in wireframe, because SetRenderMode travels in that Task.
Hold the Task and batch it with the focus task that apply_cmd_result_inner
returns. A regression test drives both results through VSCURRENT and checks the
tab's render mode.

A persisted ISODRAFT flag turned every drawing's crosshair into the
isoplane pair (one vertical, one diagonal arm) on every launch, with no
visible control to switch it back off — F5 (ISOPLANE) only cycles the
plane. Drop the flag when saving and ignore it when an old settings
file still carries it; turning it on stays a per-session choice.
Top Front Right/Left kept Y (north) as up when starting from Top,
tilting the base because orbit is turntable (never banks). Make
snap_to_direction deterministic: world +Z horizon except near +-Z
where north +Y is used, sign-preserved only for intentionally
inverted views. Expand opposite() from faces-only to all 26 regions
so already-there flip works for edges/corners.
active_command_metadata listed one input kind per step. A point step that
also takes keyword letters (point_step_accepts_keywords) reports
SingleToken, so MOVE and COPY's base point with [Displacement] were
described as accepting only token and enter, and the input example was the
D keyword, though the step takes a point. List point as well; the keyword
letters are still listed as token from the options.
Multiple now follows the reference flow: every pick after the first is
made equal right away under `Select object to make equal to first:` and
Enter ends the command with `Length of objects made equal` (or `Radius
…`). A typed coordinate at one of the command's object prompts picks the
object under that point instead of being refused as a point.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <[email protected]>
Equal was applied through a generic gather-then-apply flow and, with the
default size-retaining solve mode, never changed anything: the solver
held both sizes and the relation could not be met. Now:
- GCEQUAL joins ECONSTRAINT and GEOMCONSTRAINT Equal; both objects are
picked inside the command (`Select first object or [Multiple]:`,
`Select second object:`; Multiple gathers `Select objects to make equal
to the first:`), a selection made beforehand is not used, a miss says
`No object found.` and re-asks, an unsupported object or the same object
twice is reported and re-asked, a repeat is refused.
- The follower is resized in place before the relation is added: a line or
straight polyline segment keeps its start and direction and its end
moves to the first object's length; a circle or arc keeps its center and
takes the radius.
- During edits the side that is not being edited follows the same rule:
its size is not retained, its start (or center) and other vertices are
held and its direction kept, so only its length or radius changes; a
chain of Equal relations follows along.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <[email protected]>
The solver cannot start from an axis lying exactly across the datum: the
distance and direction equations are singular there, so a horizontal line,
a text at 0 degrees or an ellipse whose major axis is horizontal stayed
put when Vertical was applied. The command now turns the object about its
anchor (line start, picked segment's first vertex, text insertion point,
ellipse center) onto the axis first — a polyline moves only the segment's
end vertex — and lets the constraint hold what already fits. Two points on
one entity follow the same rule about the first point.

A minimized window has a 0x0 surface; the renderer's screenshot path
panicked on the empty read-back buffer and took the whole application
down. The capture op now checks the window size first and answers with
an error instead of requesting the screenshot.

The first empty-space click of the 2Points flow was only resolved against
the document together with the second one, so "No valid constraint point
found." appeared one pick late. The command now hands the first pick to
the host (`CmdResult::CheckHorizontalPoint`), which resolves it right away:
a miss reports and re-asks for the first point, a hit moves on to the
second point.

Tables copied from other applications into the plot styles folder were
listed but refused on selection, showing as "missing" with the reason
lost on a console: the loader failed hard on a checksum or a text length
that did not add up and on any non-UTF-8 byte — and those files carry
their descriptions in Windows-1252.
- decompress_ctb reads the file as it is: a checksum or length mismatch is
reported and read past (a genuinely cut-off file is still an error), a
zlib stream with a bad trailer is retried as raw deflate, and text that
is not UTF-8 is read as Windows-1252 (pens and colours are numbers and
unaffected; other code pages only show wrong characters in descriptions).
- PlotStyleTable carries load_warnings; every load site reports them on the
command line, so a table that needed tolerance says so.
- load_named explains itself: a .stb name says named tables are not
supported yet, a .ctb missing from the folder says which folder to copy
it into (instead of "Unknown built-in plot style").
- The Plot dialog shows the reason under the Table row (style_error) —
from a selection, from a page setup that names a table, and from the
Load… picker, whose error used to be swallowed.
- A table picked with Load… from outside the plot styles folder is copied
into it (unless a file of that name is already there), so it is listed
from then on and page setups naming it resolve after a restart.
Tests: flipped checksum, text length off by one, a short payload field,
Windows-1252 descriptions, a truncated stream, .stb and missing names.

- #1352 pinned cadkernel/cadkernel-constraints to ramox81's fork. Its one
extra commit (cadkernel #67, SymmetricLineDirections) is now on
HakanSeven12/cadkernel main as the same SHA, so the manifests and lock
point back at the upstream repo at rev 0493b59.
- SYCONSTRAINT reports a repeated relation with the same message Fix and
Vertical use, as an error instead of plain output.
- The knot-less spline test consumes the add_entity results.

Follow-up to #1341:
- interactive UCS offers Face / OBject; bare UCS OBJECT starts an entity pick
- one UcsPickCommand serves both FACE and OBJECT
- ucs_from_normal calls the existing arbitrary-axis helper instead of a copy
- prompt catalogue key and en-US text follow the new option list

The plot dialog asks CUPS printers for their sheets and margins; on Windows
the query was a stub, so every printer showed the paper catalogue with
unverified margins. The driver is now asked the way the plot dialog expects:
- windows_media (compiled and tested everywhere): the three parallel
DeviceCapabilities tables (ids, sizes in tenths of a millimetre, 64-WCHAR
names) become one PrinterMedia per distinct size — a rotated or
borderless twin folds onto its sheet, catalogue sheets keep their name,
unknown sizes carry the driver's — with the device's margins on every
entry and the driver's default sheet found by id or by user size.
- print_to_printer (Windows): DeviceCapabilitiesW for the tables, the
default DEVMODE for the default sheet, one portrait printer DC for the
unprintable margins (physical offsets and extents, per device — a
documented approximation). The DEVMODE fetch is shared with the print
path (with_printer_devmode).
- A direct print now asks the driver for the plot's own sheet (by id, or
as a user-defined size), so an A3 plot prints on A3 rather than shrunk
into the driver's default; a driver that refuses the sheet is asked for
the orientation alone.
- The capability cache remembers printers that could not be asked, so a
slow failing query runs once per session, not on every dialog open.
- PRINTERS <name> reports a printer's sheets, margins and default sheet.
Tests: names (NUL trim, full slot, lossy), media folding and dropping,
default by id / user size / none, DC margins, paper id lookup.

1) VCONSTRAINT (and the new GCVERTICAL name) uses the axis constraint flow:
"Select an object or [2Points] <2Points>:", 2Points mode with the
reference's re-prompts and messages, and the same object types as
Horizontal — line, polyline segment, text, MText, ellipse axis.
2) Object mode turns the object about its first vertex; a two-point relation
across two objects slides the second object rigidly onto the axis.
3) Re-applying an axis constraint reports that the constraint already
exists; Vertical follows the UCS Y direction.
4) The constraint bar draws Vertical as the reference's axis mark, with the
point marker for a two-point relation.

On Windows a plot with no printer chosen went to the PDF application's
bare "print" verb — whatever that application considered its default —
and a viewer without a "printto" verb (Edge, store readers) silently
dropped the printer the dialog had chosen. The dialog also never named the
system default, and a failed printer enumeration left only "Default" and
"PDF" with the reason written to a console nobody sees.
- The default printer is looked up by name (GetDefaultPrinterW) both for
the dialog's "System default printer (…)" entry and before every job.
- A pure route decision (plan_print_route) resolves "Default" to that
name and uses the PDF application only when it registered a "printto"
verb for .pdf (AssocQueryStringW); otherwise the job goes straight to
the spooler through the existing GDI path. The report says which:
"Sent to printer: NAME (direct print | via the PDF application)".
- list_printers reports the system's own error; the plot dialog shows it
under the printer row and the command line warns once. A desktop without
CUPS is an empty list, not an error.
- PRINTERS command: default printer, listed printers (or the error) and,
on Windows, the print route — a report to paste into an issue.
- Properties… on the Default entry opens that printer's preferences sheet.
- GDI path: the driver's dmSize is kept (its private data lives behind
it), the print raster is no longer memoised for the session, and a
spooled temporary PDF is removed.
Tests: route planning (named / blank / no default / printto or not), the
PRINTERS command; the two Windows-only GDI tests pass the resolved name.

1) FXCONSTRAINT (and the new GCFIX name) prompts "Select point or [Object]
<Object>:" — a pick fixes that constraint point; Enter or O asks for one
line, polyline segment, circle, arc, ellipse or spline; misses and
unsupported objects report the reference messages and re-prompt.
2) Point, block, text, MText, attribute and table insertion points are
addressable constraint points.
3) Re-applying Fixed to the same point or object reports that the constraint
already exists instead of adding a duplicate.
4) A persistent Fixed holds its pre-edit geometry through MOVE, ROTATE,
SCALE, STRETCH, grip and Properties edits: fixed points stay, free points
of a partly fixed entity follow the edit, and size retention skips fixed
entities.
5) Object mode on a polyline fixes the picked segment (natively persisted)
instead of the whole polyline; arc segments pin endpoints, center and
radius.
6) Ribbon label "Fix" with a padlock icon.

The Options window used to commit every control the moment it was
touched, with no way back but re-editing. It now works like the Drafting
Settings window: changes still show at once (a theme, a cursor size or a
language is seen immediately), but nothing is committed until Apply or OK.
Close — and the window's × or Esc — puts everything back the way it was
when the window opened or Apply was last pressed, asking first when there
is something to lose.
The commit point is a snapshot of the persisted configuration plus the
drawing variables the 3D Modeling page edits (with the drawing's modified
flag), so every control the window has or gains is covered without being
registered; reverting re-applies the snapshot the way start-up does and
re-bakes text or regenerates solids when those settings moved.
The "unsaved changes" guard is now a shared modal helper used by both
windows.

- PSETUPIN / -PSETUPIN: with no arguments a file picker offers the chosen
drawing's named page setups in the Plot dialog; `PSETUPIN <file>` opens
the same chooser on that file; `PSETUPIN <file> *` or
`PSETUPIN <file> name,name` import straight away. Same-named setups are
replaced, the import is one undo step, and the report counts both.
- The Plot dialog's page-setup list gains "Import…": the chooser shows the
source drawing's setups with a tick each, All, Import and Cancel, and
selects the first imported setup afterwards. The source is read off the
UI thread with the same reader the editor uses for its own setups
(`scene::document_page_setups`), and handles that only meant something
in the source drawing (plot view, visual style) are dropped on import.
- Options → General → Plotting: "Show the page setup for new layouts"
opens the Plot / Page Setup dialog whenever a layout is created
(persisted with the plot preferences).
Tests: the document reader, the command (all / named / unknown / missing
file / undo) against a drawing saved by the app, the chooser flow, and the
new-layout option. Nine new strings in all 21 locales.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <[email protected]>
Plot dialog:
- "Units" (millimetres / inches) is the page setup's own unit: the offsets
and the custom scale are shown in it, the stored ratio converts with it
so the plotted result and the paper space's unit stay the same
- "Custom: [paper] mm = [drawing] units" spells the picked scale in that
unit and accepts a typed ratio, which selects the list's name for it or
becomes a ratio entry of its own
- "Hide paperspace objects" is the page setup's plot-hidden flag; it is no
longer derived from the "Hidden Line" shade mode
- "Save changes to layout" (paper layouts, on by default) writes the dialog
into the layout when a plot is sent; previews never touch it
- offsets are labelled in the page-setup unit and kept in millimetres in
the file
System variables (typeable, through SETVAR, listed by SETVAR ?):
- PLOTOFFSET, PAPERUPDATE, PLOTROTMODE, PLOTTRANSPARENCYOVERRIDE and
BACKGROUNDPLOT live with the persisted plot preferences: the plot origin
counts from the printable corner unless PLOTOFFSET says the paper edge;
a printer that does not list the sheet either warns or switches to its
default sheet; transparency can be forced on or off; BACKGROUNDPLOT bit 1
is the dialog's background switch and bit 2 drives batch plots
- CTAB and TILEMODE read and switch the current layout
Tests cover every new control and variable; six new strings in all 21
locales; the Plot dialog grows to 940×690 for the two extra rows.

Older GPUs without usable DirectX 12 Feature Level 12_0 or working
Vulkan support (e.g. legacy Intel iGPUs and other old parts), and old
GLES drivers whose shader compiler rejects iced's own shaders, crash
at startup or on the first drawing viewport: StagingBelt aborts in
Buffer::get_mapped_range (panic=abort, silent exit) on the DX12 path,
and shader compilation fails inside iced's gradient pipeline on the
GLES path. Selecting a working backend via WGPU_BACKEND before iced
boots avoids both classes.
- Probe each candidate backend (Windows: dx12,vulkan,gl; Linux:
vulkan,gl) in an isolated --gpu-probe child: device request,
staging-style mapped upload, render pipeline creation (its fragment
shader reads a private vec4 array, catching old-Mesa compile
failures), offscreen render and readback. First fully-passing
backend wins; explicit --backend / WGPU_BACKEND / --safe-mode
always win, and Windows keeps preferring DX12/Vulkan (#55).
- Software adapters (WARP/llvmpipe/SwiftShader) are the last resort
before a best-effort GL attempt: slow but alive.
- The crash sentinel names the attempted backend so only implicated
backends are skipped next launch.
- Winning probes report adapter limits; GPUs without shader storage
buffers get the packed compatibility renderer automatically, with
a startup command-line notice so the switch is never silent.
On the web build, {"op":"open","path":…} resolves the name against the
browser's recent-files cache, so a file that is not already there cannot be
opened by the control channel. Accept {"op":"open","name":…,
"data_base64":…} instead: the bytes go through the same parse, caching
and recovery path as a file chosen in the browser picker
(io::open_bytes_web, now shared with pick_and_load_web).
Native builds keep path-based open and reject data_base64 with
invalid_request.
